Often you'll see some crazy proposed bills pop up in my Great State of South Carolina. They never go anywhere. However, most of the time the really good ones do pass.

Well here some more craziness out of SC

New today:

South Carolina:

H4388 would add a 14 day waiting period to all firearm sales

H4398 would exempt 3 firearms and up to 1000 rounds of ammunition from bankruptcy.

H4399 would require a federal background check to be completed before a person can take possession of the firearm.

H4419 is just plain stupid as it makes straw purchases and providing inaccurate information to a dealer illegal, which it already is.

H4431 would require any company within the state that manufactures toy firearms only sell ones that are clear or painted bright colors.

H4434 would repeal the law that allows coroners and deputy coroners to carry firearms while on duty.

H4440 is an 'assault weapon' ban bill

H4441 would add stricter penalties for the illegal carrying and sale of a firearm.

H4444 would add a 10 day waiting period for anyone purchasing a handgun and the FBI has not provided a response to the background check

H4473 would permit anyone licensed to carry a concealed firearm to do so outside of a recruiting center.

H4480 would prevent the delivery of a firearm until the results of a federal background check are known.

H4491 changes laws and penalties for carry a concealed firearm onto school property.

US Congress:

HB4164 has no text yet but the subject states 'To prohibit certain Federal agencies from using or purchasing certain firearms, and for other purposes'.

Well here some more craziness out of SC

H4419 is just plain stupid as it makes straw purchases and providing inaccurate information to a dealer illegal, which it already is.

Its federally illegal. They want to make it a state felony so the buyer would be tried in state courts and would go to state prison. The feds rarely prosecute 4473 centered offenses and whoever introduced that bill knows it.

All these sad anti gun bills in SC are last minute, end of year bills in response to the shooting at the church this summer.

New today:

Michigan:

SB0666 would require people to lock up their firearms in their home if the 'know' or 'reasonably should know' the firearm could be accessed by a minor.

SB0665 is the registration of the new statute created in SB0666

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Michigan-Gun-Laws

South Carolina:

H4551 would require a completed background check from NICS or 28 days to pass before a firearm can be delivered to a buyer.

H4552 would also require a completed background check from NICS or 28 days to pass before a firearm can be delivered to a buyer.

H4564 would require all firearms purchased in the state or brought into the state to be registered with the local sheriff's office.

Well, the Michigan Senate Bill is appropriately numbered. :fire:

Safe storage laws... They're basically telling me I'm not responsible enough to teach my kids about gun safety. It's not like these Democrats support gun safety education in schools. Continue to stigmatize and demonize firearms in the home.

New today:

Georgia SB250 has got to be the wackiest bill we have ever seen. It would prohibit anyone going through a divorce (under chapter 5, act 19) from purchasing a firearm

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Georgia-Gun-Law-SB250/State-Law/44164

Illinois HB4359 would add anyone on the terrorist watch list to the list of prohibited persons

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Illinois-Gun-Law-HB4359/State-Law/44165

US Congress:

HB4214 would increase the excise tax on manufacturers and importers of firearms, ammunition or lower receivers tp 20% except if the company is selling to the government.

HB4237 has no text yet but the subject states 'To increase public safety by permitting the Attorney General to deny the transfer of firearms or the issuance of explosives licenses to known or suspected terrorists, and for other purposes.' which of course means another bill to ban anyone on that secret government list.

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Federal-Gun-Legislation

This is going to quickly be tested in court as hundreds (if not thousands)
are now going to find they are on a "secret" list from which they are
barred from seeing either the evidence or facing their accuser.

Should be entertaining.....

John Lott had a recent article on the uselessness of the No-Fly List. It seems Edward Kennedy (Sen, D, MA) was not the only US congress critter sharing a name with an IRA terrorist. (BTW Kennedy was stopped five times from boarding airliners just because there was an IRA terror suspect named Edward Kennedy.) It took the other senator quite a bit of complaining to find out what was going on. (You or I would never get an explanation.) When he complained that he needed to travel and this was ridiculous, he was advised to book his next flight using his middle name and last name. His first name (Tom) and last name were on the No-Fly List, but his middle name (Richard) and last name were not. That's a very effective list there, TSA. Edward Kennedy couldn't fly but Moore Kennedy could.

o Allegedly the No-Fly List has 40% false positives.
o How many of the recent mass shooters or terrorists were on the No-Fly List? None? Am I surprised?

Adding the No-Fly List to the NICS is like gun control itself: false symbolic "security", voodoo criminology, of the most useless, tax dollar eating sort, like the Canadian long gun registry or the Maryland ballistic fingerprint database (both repealed as failures and hopefully the tax money now spent on productive policies).

Traditionally a constitutional right (like the vote or RKBA) could only be lost on conviction of a felony. Then the Lautenberg admendment added misdemeanor DV to RKBA loss. Now you lose RKBA if your name is on an error-riddled list? Talk about slippery slopes, where is this one headed?

Speak of which, new today for Massachusetts H3914 would prohibit anyone on the federal terrorist watch list or the federal no-fly list from buying firearms and explosives.

When politicians use the phrase "No Fly List", it is merely a soundbite for public consumption. The No Fly List contains about 50,000 names. What they are really talking about is the the Combined Terrorist Watchlist which contains 1.2 million names and includes all of those on the No Fly List

Unfortunately for the advocates of such state law exclusion of gun rights based upon such lists-- those lists are and will remain top secret. State government will not have access to them, so their advocacy is merely political demagoguery and they know it--

Well here is your 'Christmas present' from the gun hating Democrats in the House.

HB4269 is an abomination of a bill unlike anything you have ever seen, it would literally ban 90% of all semi-automatic handguns with magazines over 10 rounds, semi-auto shotguns and just about every semi-auto rifle you can think of. The bill contains 14 pages of listings of rifles alone.

The bill also would ban all 'high capacity' magazines with severe restrictions on the sale of existing magazines or firearms.

Plain and simple this is an all out ban on guns that would take us back to the 50s.

124 sponsors. [Keeeerist]
I'd love to see Jesse Watters interview them individually on their basic understanding of contents.

In case you have not noticed, a lot of the laws being proposed like in Missouri are deliberately not based on safety or crime reduction. This type of new law is just Jim Crow. The purpose is to stigmatize, humiliate and subjugate a certain type of person. Just think of these measures as the new poll tax or voting literacy tests. Suppress firearms ownership the way a large section of the country used to suppress the black vote. I am glad some states are pushing back.
