Reloading items that have made your life miserable

LOL. Nothing like a good ole temper tantrum until you notice someone watching you. The embarrassment quickly erases any therapeutic effects gained by destruction.

Lee saftey scale

Hand powered Lathe type trimmers

Collanders and sift pans for separating media And still having to shake rifle brass like a salt shaker.

Press mounted swaging tools for removing crimped primer pockets
Hand held chamfer and debur tools

Ive been lucky, i guess. Nothing has made my life miserable....Except moth season, in the garage where i do my loading. The Lee FCD gave me a little grief, and it took me a while to realize that its a solution looking for a problem.
Powder tricklers are just about useless... Other than that?
Im a happy, hobby lovin guy

Worst piece of equipment:

Single stage press from 'Smart Reloader': The ram is not aligned with the threaded hole for the die. They don't match up. The case won't go into the die. Worthless.

RCBS Piggyback 4. I bought one for next to nothing to upgrade my Rock Chucker to a Progressive. I've loaded thousands of rounds with it, but there are just too many little issues with it that need constant adjustment to make it reasonable to reload with. Case in point... shell plate nut that constantly unscrews itself, paper clip case ejector that no matter how tight you make it, loosens and doesn't eject cases, paper clip shell holder on the first station that needs manual intervention for every case, APS primer system on this press hangs up and jambs every so often, slop in the removable die plate which screws up bullet seating, etc. ....

You can reload with one of these things, but the constant fiddling with the press is a major PITA.

I've upgraded to a Hornady Lock n Load AP Press and it is a dream, plus I now have my Rockchucker back! The Rockchucker is a GREAT single stage press.

Lyman case trimmer. It is the one item on my bench that I spent more time fiddling with to get it to trim cases right than everything else in my process. I don't know why, but I can NEVER get it adjusted right.

The Original RCBS Case lube that had the consistency of molasses at freezing temp. That had to be the messiest lube to use and so thick and tacky. Then if you by chance got too much on you had hyd dents in the necks......

Lee Zip Trim, self destructed in less than 100 cases. Lyman case trimmer, inherently inconsistent in spite of a basic design. Flex??

The Lee Safety Prime, or whatever it's called, that came with my Cast Turret Press. The on-press priming doohickey. Some people have good luck with them and like them, I'm not one of those folks.

Buying dang near every different powder to try and find "That one magic Reload.. )

Listening to the BS on the internet by supposed "experts"
Plus listening to Lee Haters spew their stuff on line.

I don't really understand this question. If there is some item or method or product that interferes with the fun of my reloading (AKA "make my life miserable"), I sure as he** ain't gonna use it more than once to give it a chance to make me miserable! Like my Lee FCD for handguns that now resides in a landfill somewhere in Southern Oregon...

Back in the early 1980's, a bad batch of Federal 215 primers which pierced and pitted the bolt face of a brand new Remington 700 .30-06 with well below maximum loads. I was new to handloading and did not realize the primers were the problem and continued to use them trying milder and milder loads till I was back under the starting loads. I was trying a ball powder (W760) and the experts said you need to use Magnum primers. I quickly went back to IMR 4831 and Fed 210's. No more problems.

Really aggravating thing is I recently acquired a 300 RUM, while rummaging through my stash found the same box of Fed 215's and pitted the face of another bolt.:banghead:

Ya live and learn and sometimes you just live.

trying to figure out powder coating of bullets...... I tried everything other than just breaking down and buying the darn spray gun. I bet I have thrown 300 bullets back in the pot and tried again. good lord I was about to pull my hair out!!

The 223 trimmer. Shells keep walking out, drives me nuts.

Also the Lee Auto Prime XR, just couldn't get it to seat primers properly and the plastic cover cracks easily.

The Lee Perfect Powder Measure drove me nuts as it tends to dribble finer powders out the rotor. I discovered the 'elastomer wiper' needed adjusting and it's been fine..so far. I'd like to try the new Classic version at some point.

Finding a granual of corn cob in my primer holes after putting
the sized cases in my tumbler. I am now switching to a finer
media. Hope it works.

Lee case length based trimmer.
I am with you on the Lee case trimmer. I do not know how but it managed to give me really bad case length consistency and attempting to use it with power, whether with a drill or a powered screwdriver, gave me the added problem of the case conststanly coming out of the holder.

I've moved on and will not use them again.
