Found this gun today. 5-1/2" barrel, 6 shot single action. The only markings are "44 cal" on the left hand side of the frame below the cylinder. A "48" stamped on the bottom of the frame and "colt" stamped on the top of the barrel. Sorry I didn't take better pics, I was in a rush. Any idea what I'm looking at here?

Another pic... For some reason it will only let me upload one at a time from my iPhone

It's not a Colt.
Among other things.

* Trigger is too thick.
* Hammer shape is wrong.
* Trigger guard should be one piece with the front section of the grip frame.
* None of the proper Colt markings are there.

I'll go with CraigC.
It's a cheap old Spanish copy of some kind.

Not worth whatever they are asking for it.

Agree with Craig, likely a Spanish copy.
It's no Colt and it is not a Belgian Brevette because it lacks proof marks.
Proof test was not compulsory in Spain until 1923 so older knockoffs did not have to be tested and marked.

I think I found it... A Spanish knock off for the Latin American market circa 1890-1920. Maybe worth $250-500 depending on condition and Tia one is rough. It's at an auction house, no price on it.

Howdy

Looks like a piece of junk to me. Look how poorly the parts are fitted. Look how poorly the screws set in their holes.

I wouldn't pay five bucks for it.

This is what a quality single action revolver looks like.

Not even close to that!!

You may see some on the internet with asking prices like that.

But you won't see any selling for that.

It might be worth $100 -$150 to someone who collects stuff like that??

But there are only one or two of those collectors in the world.
And both of them are 95 years old.
