Quartering a big game animal/gutless method.

Around here until a coupla years ago, the DNR required you to keep the deer intact(other than field dressing) until it was registered. I once removed the lower legs(cut off at the hocks) from a large buck I shot while bowhunting a mile from the road in a attempt to make the drag a tad easier and got hassled for it at the registration station. Now, while you can quarter or field butcher your deer in up to five separate pieces, the head must still be attached to one of them. You must also, remove all parts of the deer, other than the entrails from the field. This in itself makes for why most folks still drag the whole deer(other than the entrails) out.
At the few places that require game check-in in Florida, they gripe at you if you gut the deer before checking it on the way out.

I let them gripe and then tell them to shut up unless they want to drag it to a road while whole.

Hogs are OK to gut first.

Good video. I like getting them out whole but sometimes that's not an option. I've done modified versions of that one and that one looks like a winner.

I didn't watch the video but I've been doing gutless method for about 10 years. When I'm solo elk hunting I take the rib meat but leave the ribs and bone everything else out. Doing it gutless, skinned and boned out with a 2" caper takes me 2-3 hours. I have more knives but really don't need anything else than the little caper. Don't think I could beat 2 hours in the field but I'm lucky to do 1 elk a year. The inside loins are hidden but you can push the gut sack back and pull them out with your hands.

Started doing this 3 yrs ago. It is a time saver, even moose... But I wouldn't call it a game changer. Seems like I can keep the meat cleaner when I remove all of guts first.

Trying to understand how the meat stays cleaner if you gut it first?

I don't get sufficient Internet service where I'm located currently to view the videos. Can you give a quick 5-10 step list so I can get an idea of what you're doing?

Sounds perfect for warm weather public land bowhunts. I need to get the meat on ice ASAP and everybody's your friend until you have to drag a doe out sept 15 before you gotta go to work.

Thanks
