Accuracy issues with CZ Mannlicher stocks?

I have a 550FS in 6.5x55. I only have less than 40 rounds through it though. Started out OK, but then accuracy started to drop off. I pulled the scope (an old Weaver K2.5) and shot some nice groups with the open sights. I think it was a scope issue, but I need to play around with it some more to confirm this.

I was asking myself the same question you asked in the past, and most of the posts I found indicated no issues. Someone will chime in who has tested from a variety of positions with the barrel hot or cold.

If you get a 550FS, know beforehand that the sight radius is, uh, really short. NECG makes a peep sight for it, but I don't think it fits the classic lines of the rifle very well. The rings that came with mine (bought it used) hold the scope up pretty high -- high enough that the cheekpiece rests against the side of my jawbone.

The CZ barrel isn't really light like the Ruger M77 Internationals are supposed to be. The stock isn't especially slim either, so they seem pretty stable. Only time and more range time will tell for me though.

The 550FS is pretty short, but it's no lightweight. Balances pretty well though, and the stock fits me perfectly if the iron sights are used. Handle one, and you might see what I mean. I got mine from local classifieds and have never seen one in a store around here.

I don't hunt, but if I did, that would be a good choice. I bought mine because I liked the looks and the caliber. Evokes the spirit of fine European sporting rifles (which I guess it sort of actually is). For me, it'll make a fine (but expensive) water jug blaster.

I have 4 CZ FS guns (3 centerfires and 1 rimfire) along with about 10 of their other rifles. The only "issue" with the FS guns is that they tend to be the most accurate of the bunch. This has also been the experience of many others who own multiple CZs, full stocks and other styles (lots of such accounts on the CZ and Centerfire Rifle forums at rimfire central). If CZ's are an indicator, the claim that full stocks cause wandering POI is a myth. But, it may be that other brands do have issues.

Bottom line, if you want a CZ FS gun, don't hold off due to accuracy concerns.

I have two CZs with mannlicher stocks......CZ452FS....22....have had truly excellent accuracy with it....and my CZ527FS..223/5.56.....that is an ABSOLUTELY...INCREDIBLE...AMAZINGLY....accurate rifle....the single set trigger just makes it very easy to shoot one hole groups....

Col. Plink: My Son and I both shoot CZ 527`s in 22 Hornet. Mine is the American Model and His is the short barreled Mannlicher Stocked Model. Both of our rifles are extremely accurate 1/2 inch or less at a 100yds. And if anything my Son`s FS CZ 22 Hornet just might be the most accurate of our two rifles. According to our personal experiences and observing other people shoot their CZ Mannlicher full stocked rifles. I would say CZ has got any accuracy problems on their FS rifles completely figured out and solved. And they are just drop dead gorgeous rifles IMHO. Every one that I have talked to that has a FS CZ Rifle claims their rifle will shoot an 1inch or less groups at a 100yds. I hope this helps You out.

I have had a CZ 50 FS in 6.5 x 55 since 2004. It is an excellent rifle. As another poster stated , it is no light weight. I am a dedicated handloader. I can easily get 1.5" groups at 100 yards with this rifle with a variety of handloads and my best handloads consistently group 1" with 140 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips. I have killed coyote on the run at 150 yards and deer at 300 yards. So its accuracy is fine for my needs. Most CZ 550 FS owners in this caliber report similar results on the various handloader forums I frequent.

Another reporting in. My CZ452FS is plenty accurate. Plus it really fits me well. Seems some 22's are built for smaller folks, kids maybe. This rifle is quite ergonomic.

I have a 550 & a 455 in FS, no accuracy issues.
Both shoot quite well.

My 452FS is a tackdriver. As is my Ruger 77MKII .250.

The No.1 International I had, not so much.

The only mannlicher rifle I have experience with is a Ruger RSI in 308. There are no accuracy issues due to the stock that I can see.
