SKS?

Bought my first SKS when they were selling for $75.00, or $100.00 with 1100 rounds of Chinese 7.62x39 on stripper clips. It was a Chinese "Police " Model, and came with a fixed 20 round magazine.

I also bought an un-issued Albanian SKS, a pair of laminated stock Russian SKS, a Romanian SKS, a Yugo Model 59, and a pair of Model 59/66 SKS. While at it, I picked up an SKS Model M Sporter.

I have seen a number of SKS rifles that would slam-fire. ALL of them had firing pin channels that were packed with cosmoline, or has corrosion in them from the corrosive primers. Actually, one had a bent firing pin, from it's owner "fixing" it.

ALL of mine shoot Wolf 7.62x39 without issue. We recently blasted a full case through several guns. Kept maintained, the SKS is no more a problem than any other rifle. The fact that I haven't witnessed an issue does NOT mean that it doesn't happen. On the other hand, one such incident also does NOT mean that it's a regular occurrence, either.
