I'm trying to decide between the Vortex Diamondback HP 2-8x32 and the Nikon Team Primos 3-9x40.
The scope will be going on my 7.62x39 X-Caliber barreled Savage 16 Lightweight Hunter. The stock I ordered is a Richards Microfit Custom Rollover AAA graded. With it all together I will have some money in it so I don't want junk but I do want the best bang for buck because I only want to do this buying once

You might need that money for sandpaper and chisels for that stock. Hopefully they are inletting savages better than they did my action.

But assuming the promos is still a rebadged monarch, I'd probably go that route. Depending on cost difference.....

Those Diamondback 2-8x32 HP's are excellent. I've got two and consider them the most bang for the buck. Having parallax adjustment really helps.

Don't know what prices you are seeing, but I've seen the diamondback hp for as low as $175.00 within the last couple of months. If you are willing to spend a bit more, the Leupold VX3 is $100 off at places right now. I picked up a 1.5-5 for $299. Much clearer glass than my Diamondback HP 2-8. Though I don't really have any complaints about the Diamondback.

I've not been able to find the Diamondback HP 2-8x32 since I've stayed looking for the past 2 weeks.

I'm honestly trying to stay as close to $200 or under because I'm already a little over budget being right at $1000 in this build. I personally would want more than 5x

Can you find a Primos? I thought they quit making them.a few years ago?

I have one of the Nikon's on one of my Tikkas and really like it. Great glass for the money when I bought it.

Save the money and get the Nikon if it is in good shape. It has a lifetime warranty, and since they don't make it anymore, they will have to give you an equivalent or probably something better.
