This thread has the numbers but in a nutshell a carbine length 5.56 has roughy 27k psi to cycle the bolt at the gas port. A pistol length 300blk firing supers only 20k psi

At no point is a pistol length gas 300blk "overgassed" compared to the 5.56 pressure the system was designed around.
Thank you for the link. I found that very informative. Since I own several different weight buffers, ill start with C, and go from there.

While I know I don't have as many rounds down range as the experts, I am running a McGowen 16" Blackout with pistol gas length, carbine buffer, and non-adjustable gas block. I am shooting 125g, 150g, and 168g supersonic with zero issues. I am making a suppressor once I get my tax stamp. I have heard so many tales that an adjustable is necessary, but it seems to all come down to compensating for some other deficiency such as small or oversized gas port. Give the non-adjustable one a chance and see what happens. If worse comes to worse you can take it off and sell it for a adjustable one and report your findings. Good luck!

Thank you. I'm no expert with 300 BLK, but the general wave of positive feedback from users is too much to ignore. I'm hoping my second oldest son will get his first deer with it this season. Here in MO, 556 is legal to hunt with, and I've done so successfully for a dozen or so years now. However, id like to give my other boys something to look forward to: First deer with dads new toy!!!

My oldest used my mothers Ruger Mk2 Compact in .260 Rem this year and bagged his first deer, a 7 pointer. Although he practiced, being a lighter rifle it walloped his shoulder. I'm an advocate for comfort in shooting concerning young ones, and I think the AR platform with the right cartridge is a great setup for children.
