I have been carrying the M&P Shield 9mm no thumb safety
for a year IWB and its been a great carry gun.

Very comfortable and zero malfunctions.

Great job S&W!

Jimmy:)

I carried one myself for a while. Well-made and reliable. Until I got a glock 43. Why? I use Glocks at work (17) hunting (21) HD (17, 19) and 3 gun (34). It just made sense to me to stick with one design, but the M&P series of pistols are all nice too.

I have the Shield in 9mm as my EDC. It is quite accurate for a small gun and can be easily concealed. Mine has the safety which I can take or leave. I wanted one of these and the LGS had this one so I got it. I like what I see and have read about the Performance Center version.

I've been carrying mine about 6 months and love it. My model has the safety. No problems whatsoever and try to put a box of FMJ through it once a month. Never an issue.

Yup, got one too, EDC almost everyday, when Im not carrying other guns.

Super comfortable, and the recoil impulse is just awesome for a subcompact.

I carried one for 3 years - originally got one the first month they were out. I finally switched to an Hk P2000, because I wanted DA/SA and more capacity. Bit, they are nice guns!

I have a Performance Center 9mm and wear it everyday IWB. Very accurate and no issues at all. Considering a mag guts magazine conversion to add an additional round.

I carried my 40 for a little longer than that, it has an Iridian light mounted on it and I keep it in the supplied (!) hybrid belt slide. You pull the gun the light goes on :) The gun has about 400 training round thru it , I use 165 Grain reloads that mirror the Ranger Bonded I keep it and one mag loaded with. It carries like a dream under any sort of garment without being seen and is just light enough on my Liger belt to be able to forget about. FWIW that seems to be for me not much more than 20 0z. and less than 1" thick. Sure the .40 socks you good, but the plastic Shield frame soaks it up better than my heavier Sig 239 .40 does believe you me ! All in all I love my Shiel it has been 100% relieable. Mine has all the safties and warning flags in the world but they make me feel safer really and I have no worry the thing will be out and useable if I am wearing it, which I usually do :)

I really like mine. It conceals easily and is reliable. I carry it more often than my other pistols and is accurate and fairly soft shooting.

It is times like this that I really think this forum needs a "like" button.

My Shield 40 has been with me for a little more than a year now. Love it.

Mine has been perfect for over two years....awesome pistol.

After the shield there really isn't a reason for another CC pistol. Except the LCP there'll always be times when the size of the LCP is needed.

So now with both, I can concentrate on sidearms I really want to own.

I love reading these good things about the Shield. I remember back in December 2012 and early 2013, right after Sandy Hook, the Shield was pretty new to the market and finding one for sale was like looking for unicorn horns.

Now that they are widely available in every LGS and at every gun show, I keep walking by them thinking I'll get one some day. Maybe I should go ahead and grab one, although I need to shoot an XD-S first.

I recently sold mine. Great gun and easy to carry but ended up carrying my Makarov and preferring that over the Shield for CC. Never had a malfunction and shot great but ended up not using it. It was a safety model and eventually I'll replace it with a non-safety model.

I had one and carried it every day. It was a 9mm with thumb safety. I eventually sold it to buy a Glock 43 which is what I now carry (I'm a Glock guy at heart) but I'd have no problem carrying the Shield. I recommend it to people all the time. I do think most people seem to shoot the Glock more accurately, but it may be that most people in my circles are Glock shooters to begin with.
