Hello all

I'm mainly a S&W revolver guy, but do own a few colts. Anyway, I grabbed this at my LGS today. Apparently, a Colt collector had a severe stroke and his family was liquidating his collection.

From what I can gather, this was one of 250 made for a special order back in the early 1990s.

It came with the blue plastic box and two magazines. It has been shot before, but i would rate it easily as a 95% gun.

The serial number is 016GCE40.

Can anyone tell me more about this pistol? It is pretty much a mystery to me at this point. Thanks.

It is one of the very few Colt 1911-pattern pistols ever chambered in .40 S&W. Not long after Colt started chambering 1911-pattern pistols in the caliber, Colt cut most of the product lines to survive a financial crisis, including all of the revolvers except the SAA and most of the unusual 1911 versions in such rounds as .40 S&W and 9x23.

The OP's pistol is a Gold Cup variant chambered for .40 S&W. There were Delta Gold Cups in 10mm as well as Elite IX pistols in 9x19 in the same time frame. All are fairly collectible.

The only thing I can tell you is it is a beautiful pistol. I would get a few opinions on it and not just by the "Blue book of gun values" or anything similar. They had my Colt Delta Elite in SS as a $300 gun about 10 years ago. "Dead caliber" is what I was told. Buy one of the new reissued ones for $1200 and then tell me again how mine is worth $300 in like new condition.

my goodness,,,,sweet find there man, those suckers are rare as hens teeth, you can probably turn a profit on it depending on what you have in it,myself I would have a custom leather/gator skin OWB holster built for it and wear that sucker on the weekends while dressed up fancy, and take it to the range now and then

Never heard of this configuration before but it sure is sweet looking! Nice find!

I'm not a big fan of 40 S&W, but I am a fan of cool odd ball guns, and this pretty lady has me drooling! Super awesome!! Great find!!
