Does anyone have any experience with the Ruger SR762? There are only a few threads posted here on this rifle and none are recent.

What is the current experience with this rifle?

I purchased an SR two years ago from cabelas. Found it in the used rack for $1350 + I had a 10% off coupon. Gun had some very minor blemishes and looked as it had been fired very little. The magazines were still in their packaging in the rifle case.

After getting home, I took it to the range the next day. It was around 10 degrees and very windy, but I had to try it out. I brought 2 types of ammo, hornady and an offbrand gun show special brass case. Gun was a jam o matic with both types, failing to extract the spent shells, resulting in double feeds. I tore it down on the spot, wiped the thick oil off the bolt carrier. Didn't have any gun oil in my range bag (shame on me!), so I lubed it up with what I had in my truck, Senco nail gun oil, and had a good session thereafter. Never skipped a beat after that, ever. Accuracy was very good considering the wind.

Soon after, I topped it with a Nikon m308 scope. It is my only 308 AR, and I see no reason for another. It is a pretty hefty rifle, and recoils fairly lightly for a 30 Cal. Much more pleasant to shoot than my AK.

I am getting one in the near future. I have heard the triggers are not too good, so we will see about that. I am thinking of putting a low power scope on it, looking at the Trijicon 1-4x Accupoint. Not sure I will do much besides plinking, but I figure a low power scope like that would do me fine if I decide to take it deer hunting, and still make it a reasonable defense carbine if the world comes to an end as we know it.

I have had occasion to put a bit over three hundred rounds down-range, mostly from field positions from two examples. Both functioned 100% and seemed to be very accurate. If I were in the market for an AR-type .308 semi, it would be my first choice.
