Although the Luger's sentimental value outweighs its monetary value (you won't be selling it), having these paired up will most certainly be an advantage "collection-wise" then letting it slip to a collector with a mismatched Luger. Anyone can have a mismatch set, but with the correct holster and Luger, you've got something seriously estate-worthy collectible that can be passed down as a set.

I say go for it. They belong together, and should be reunited, IF you have the monetary means to make it happen.

My opinion: buy it. You'll never get an opportunity like that again.

If it's legit, buy it. It sounds like it does check out as legit.

You care enough to check into it in the first place, so you want it.

Now, think about how much money you spend in one year, on various things you never even remember.
Next January, you wouldn't miss the money, but you'd absolutely still appreciate the holster.

Have you spoken to the owner of the holster about it? I know one angle is to keep him in the dark and talk him down, but if he's a collector and not just making money, then he'd probably understand the situation and might work out a deal, a swap for something else in return. Even the most flint-hearted might say "I usually don't do this, but.....". Maybe offer to buy him another in good shape and do a straight trade.

For the love of God, don't quibble over $50.!!! If he will sell it for $450, GRAB IT! You must realize that that complete outfit will appreciate faster than almost ANY investment you could possibly make.

You did the right thing and you will never regret it. And you are not alone in regards to the cell phone camera. Mine is no better.

That's a hard choice but I think you made the right one. It's a better story than another $450 gun. Hopefully the value of both has gone up commensurate with the reunion.

A couple years ago I found a really nice Safety Speed Clamshell holster for a 6" K frame. I've been looking for a nice one for years. Bought it. Brought it home.

Met wife. I was pretty excited about my new find. Showed her how you press the little button and the holster pops open. Adam 12. Malloy carried one. Old school LAPD. Etc.

She looked at me.

Her:
"Yeah, that's pretty cool. Do you have a gun that fits it?"

Me:
"Well, actually.....no."

Her:
"Hm. Even for you, isn't that a little weird?"

Anyway, a great friend gave me a 6" 66 a few months later, so, the circle was compete. You already had the gun.

Forget all the input not taking into account the "match".

Yes, you should buy it. Even if in general terms it is a bit high for A holster of this type, we're talking about this holster, your pistol and you.

Nothing wrong with haggling but I'd go 450 if it matches, is in like condition and has the tool.
