And here I thought this puppy was laid to rest. Guess not.

From (Obama set to push for ‘smart gun’ tech despite concerns (foxnews)).

"The Obama administration is locked and loaded for a fresh push on gun control initiatives – reportedly moving to advocate for so-called "smart gun" technology as early as Friday, despite concerns from the gun lobby.

Politico reports President Obama is set to release findings on the technology from a multi-agency review, and White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett was previewing the material to a select set of groups on Thursday.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest confirmed to reporters that the administration would be making an announcement on Friday, without going into detail.

Politico quoted a source saying a mandate is not being considered at the moment – but the roll-out of the review could fuel those concerns."

Knew this was coming. Been a little quiet on this issue.

" a mandate is not being considered at the moment ".

And if the mandate is issued, will congress fight it or will it have to go before the courts? I'll bet congress will not really fight it.

Ah look, Obama pushing more gun control that I have no Intention of listening to or abiding by.....

Can they make them smart enough to not work in certain situations? Such as the one with the gun is:

Drunk
On Drugs
Angry
Crazy
Stupid
.........and on and on

Agree ... don't see congress fighting this either so the only recourse would be the courts. I mean it's not like the courts are tilted in our favor or potential replacements to USSC are pro-2A!

Never even heard of this before.

A search on "smart gun" yielded several hits. I chose this one. (Yes, Wikipedia is fallible, but it's a reasonable overview to start with.)

Two thoughts come to mind.

One, some gun owners oppose even the presence of safeties, and things like Ruger's loaded chamber indicator on pistols. I can imagine the opposition to this stuff.

Two, I've so far owned only one 'smart phone', an Android model by a top maker. It was one of the stupidest, most infuriating machines I've ever encountered, including data base losses during upgrades (my entire contact list). I've gone back to "stupid phones" for now -- (flip cell).

I shudder to think of a "smart gun". :what:

All of my guns seem pretty smart already. They haven't committed any crimes, done any drugs or knocked up any under age girls. Now if only people's kids were so smart....:scrutiny:

Obama just can't rest with guns. He despises and fears them so much he'll keep pushing some EO's until his final day.

8 months and 22 days to go. It can't come soon enough to be rid of Americas all time worst POTUS.

Obama...blablah....guns....blahblah...
More wind and noise signaling nothing.
Potus can't pass laws, potus can't do much at all.
But the usual people will make scary sounds and try to get people worked up.
For as little as he can really accomplish, obama sure does control gun people.

Which Executive Orders has Obama pushed on guns?

Come on people, we have to be smarter than the average street goon and not buy into the fear and rhetoric and misinformation. This isn't a EO, or anything else, but the release of findings from his previous failed gun control push post Sandy Hook.

They will likely engineer a new gun disaster in order to prop up Hillary on a wave of public support. Problem is, American's are so desensitized to violence that their best efforts to engineer disasters just aren't working.

Ok, tin foil hat removed.;)

Lame. Even by lame duck standards. In brighter news, only 266 days left of the BO presidency.

“Police officers in general, federal officers in particular, shouldn’t be asked to be the guinea pigs in evaluating a firearm that nobody’s even seen yet,” James Pasco, executive director of the Fraternal Order of Police, told Politico.

THIS always speaks volumes

I did not say EO's on guns per se, I just said EO's, period Try some reading comprehensive before you blast off!

Insult much? You can do better than this.

I'm about as worried about this as I am about him taking away my privilege to drive my own car instead of having it do the driving (and I trust the concept of "smart guns" as much as I trust those cars.)

I'll believe it when I see some bill mandating it. At least for now we live in a nation where you can't even get a federal magazine limit. I consider the possibility of some crappy eLock on my weapons several magnitudes less likely.

Actually, what you said was
Obama just can't rest with guns. He despises and fears them so much he'll keep pushing some EO's until his final day.

How else would someone interpret your words, if not in regard to an Executive Order on guns?

Did, perhaps, you meant he despises and fears them (guns) so much that he would keep pushing Executive Orders on Blocking Property And Suspending Entry Into The United States Of Persons Contributing To The Situation In Libya, or perhaps Steps to Increase Competition and Better Inform Consumers and Workers to Support Continued Growth of the American Economy, or perhaps Establishing the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, or similar to his other EO's? Because that would make sense.

Try some reading comprehensive before you blast off!

Try being more specific, or at best, less vague when you type.

Insult much? You can do better than this.

I'm certain I could, but I'd rather not wind up with an infraction. It wasn't meant to be an insult, in any case, but I can't help it if you took it as such.
Perhaps you, yourself, could try a dose of that reading comprehension before YOU blast off.
