What was the first revolver you ever shot, and what was the first one you purchased?

Yes. The K-22 I shot was mounted on some sort of rig that prevented it from being pointed anywhere but down range. I remember the gun very well, don't remember the mounting hardware much except that it kept the gun from being pointed anywhere but down range. Probably prevented it from being stolen too. Since my grandparents lived on Long Island, that's probably where the shooting gallery was. Maybe at Jones Beach.

Driftwood,

As I remember that contraption, there was a ball-and-socket swivel built in at bench top height. The steel tube had grip inserts that fit under the wood grips on that little Smith that held it to the tube. The tube extended down through the ball and allowed limited vertical movement, to allow for the shooter's height. The ball had limited movement to allow vertical muzzle travel, and side-to-side travel. It took a little effort, but aiming was fairly easily done. As I recall, it was .22 Shorts, and twelve shots for a quarter.

First revolver shot was my grand dads original 1st gen Colt SAA .45 First bought would be a K frame .38 Smith. The .45 is mine now

H&R 22 LR, was the first i ever shot, I had it a very long time then gave it to my son. The first I ever bought was a Ruger SAS chambered in 357 Mag. It also came with a 9mm cylinder. I was so impressed with the Ruger I bought two more. The second was a SAA chambered in 45 Colt. The third was not a revolver it is a Ruger SR45. I'm very pleased with my Rugers.

Ruger Single Six in .22lr was the first purchased and first shot some 35 + years ago.

Before being allowed to purchase it, I had to sit down with the police chief in "Podunk", IA and convince him that I had no nefarious purposes in mind for its use.

Although it doesn't get out of the safe much any more, I still have it.

First bought and shot, Iver Johnson .22. Second shot, Ruger 44 magnum that an old man conned me into shooting. I wish I had used both hands, but that was a long time ago and Roy Rogers just used one hand.

The first revolver I ever purchased and shot was a 7.5 Inch Stainless Ruger Redhawk .44 Magnum.

I wish I still had it.

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

First revolver I shot was a .22LR Single Six back in the day that belonged to my best friend's dad. We all did a lot of camping and plinkin' then; .22LR in the wheelgun and sweet-shooting bolt rifle, and .410 in a single-shot shotgun.

First revolver I purchased was just recently (I thought all I'd ever need in a handgun was found in a 1911) - a .22 mag S&W Model 351PD.

The first gun I ever shot was a S&W Model 10 back when I was 19 (44 years ago). When I hit that soda can, I was hooked. It was 30 yds. away & I could barely see it. Luck, I guess.

First revolver I ever shot was also the first handgun of any type i ever owned, a s&w m66. Wish id never let it go, and had to fins another to replace it.

The first one I bought I was about 14 and it was an 1858 Navy. It was a kit and the only thing I could afford at the time. Later I bought a Jaeger 44-40 cartridge revolver and was about half afraid of it.

I remember at the time I thought it kicked really bad. I never learned to shoot that thing accurately. I was a dumb kid with no shooting skills and no one to teach me.

I remember sometime in the late 1970's my high school friend insisted I shoot his Model 57 and I had to have a Smith & Wesson.

I ended up buying a used 1958 Model 28 sometime in the early 80's, that looked like it had never been fired. I had to make payments on it because I didn't have the $200.00 the LGS wanted for it.

I have over 24 guns now and that old 28 is still one of my favorites. I had bought a 28-2 4" later on so if my 28 wore out I would still have one to shoot.

Wear out a 28? What a laugh.

My uncle's High Standard .22LR, 6" bbl.

Purchased a Ruger Blackhawk .357 in 1968.

I inherited the .22 from my dad who inherited it from my aunt.

My Dad had a Rossi .38 Spl. and I took it out in the back yard when I was about 16 (1970) and shot it once to see what it was like. I'd never shot anything bigger than a .22 rimfire before that, and it felt like a cannon to me. He gave it to me before he passed, and I still have it, 26 years later.

First revolver I purchased was in 1977, a S&W Model 19, with a 6" barrel, I kept it about a year and then traded it for a S&W Model 66 with a 4" barrel. I got stupid and sold it about 10 years ago, just found a nice M19-3 to replace it.

First shot: Iver Johnson 5 shot in 32 cal., probably built in about 1910. First bought: 6" Security Six, blue, .357, bought in '84.

First hand gun shot was an H&R 9 shooter .22lr that belonged to a buddy. He brought it while we were camping and having only shot occasional .22 rifles's or shotguns while growing up it was a new experiance. I was amazed at how much harder it was to hit anything then the folks on TV made it look.

My first purchased gun was a 5.5" Ruger Single Six. I did learn to shoot much better with it, but truthfully found it disappointing after being exposed to centerfires and it was the also the first gun i sold. Too heavy for the power, not to mention slow and fiddley to reload. I've had two more SS's since, but they never stay around long.

Both: Blackhawk convertible 357/9mm with the 9mm cylinder - first I purchased and first I shot, purchased new, btw. Not even sure why I was opposed to revolvers for so many years, but I just wanted semi-autos. The good news is that I am cured. Revolvers are equal in stature with all my guns!

H&R 949 .22. Yes bought it when I was 15 (parent's Christmas present.)

It is what taught me to shoot! Later a S&W Model 10 .38 I shot some. I graduated to a Hawes Marshal .357 (J.P. Sauer.) And I used it for years. Learned how to handload on it (I still was only 17 or so.)

Yep, I was then lead down the path of the gun nut! We are talking 1970s here. Early '70s.

First shot was dad's .22 Colt Woodsman Match Target. First one I bought was a Ruger .44Mag Super Blackhawk.

I tnink it was 7.6mm Malzer world war 1 full stock rifle we couldn't find a clip for it and you could only load one bullet at time and boy did that thing kick I was eleven years old and paid 5 bucks for it. To be honest after I shot it a few time I was afraid of the gun and the recoil.

uburti stallion .22/.22mag and a six inch blued Colt Python.. I have both... first auto's... ruger 22 mark 1 and a S&W model 41... I have the model 41 and several mk series but not the first oner I ever shot.

Only revolver I ever shot was a single action in 22LR. Not exactly sure what it was, but was not impressed with it. Never owned a revolver, myself.

Never fired a handgun until I was over 21. My first that I shot was a H&R 999 (22 rimfire) and that was the my first handgun purchased. Second was a 4" Colt Diamondback in 22. I don't have either of those revolvers now, but I have others. First center fire was a Colt Python and at that time I thought the recoil intense.
