So I just got my lee 7.62x39 dies all set up, and i was about to embark on yet another adventure in reloading, when the very first case i run through the sizer is BERDAN PRIMED! I bent the decapper, managed to not cuss very much, since after all reloading is supposed to be therapeutic, and checked the rest of my brass. You guessed it, not a boxer primer to be found. Since i didn't have any good brass anyway, i got on Lee Precision website, find my parts for $3.50 a piece (might as well have the .307 decapper too) and placed my order. Low and behold when it came time to pay for it the amount was $0.00! Should have been 7 bucks, but all i had to pay was a few bucks shipping! Now that's customer service, and next time I'll look in the case with a light before i try and deprime cases that were advertised as boxer but were actually berdan primed...

They have replaced decap pins for e for free that I said were damaged do to user error. I am happy with Lee products and their CS.

I've never broke a Lee decapping pin, if it's adjusted right the pin should just slip back out of the die.

I've had that happen a few times.

Truth be told, I've never broke any decapping pin or had any other problem with any manufacturers dies. I use Lee mainly, but also RCBS and Hornady to great success.

I wish I could say this. I broke 2 of them my first week reloading. Then I actually read the manual and the problem got solved:)

Gets even better. Send them an email with a picture of broken part and they replace it free and pay shipping. Directions are on their website.

They paid for my first couple of mistakes. Guilt dictated I pay from then on.

I've broken a few decappers. Usually bend it first on flash hole that's not centered. Thanks AMERC!

Schwing, truth be told the first time it happened I didn't understand what had happened. I thought I broke it, until I did a little google-ing.

Still happy with Lee, but got pin stuck in 7.62x51mm brass that I'm pretty certain was Boxer, and got not very helpful reply to me email suggesting that maybe I was wrong. No offer of free part just an item number to get a new one. Probably got the wrong guy.

They've changed their direction...I just dealt with them last month

You now have the option of sending in your broken part and getting a new part completely free, or...

Having them send you a free part, but you pay shipping & handling...handling is $4 per order; my total was $7.50 via USPS

I had a 9mm sizing die fall apart on my first 9mm round ran through it. Lee sent me a new one free of charge. I still have the old die.

What? Someone mentioned Lee products and no badmouthing? :what:

I've never had to use Lee's customer service (all my Lee tools have worked fine!) but I've read good things about them. If it wasn't for inexpensive Lee reloading tools, I may never have started...

I have a Lee universal decapper.
223s would not go in!?!?

Pulled it & found a .22lr brass - the decapping pin had punched thru.
Didn't bend or break.

I broke the carrier on a Loadmaster , it cracked right by the primer arm .
I have had the press for a while .

Figured what the Heck I'll take a pic and send it on their website . That was about 2 months ago . Got the part free of charge and they even paid to ship it .

My gripe is the cheap plastic ratchets. They used to send them to me for free...not any more. $7.50 in shipping and $0.50 each.

A first class package is $2.45. a stamp is like $.50.

Oh, well. Customer service is getting crappier every day with most companies.

Yeah the ratchet for auto index is easy to warp.

Mine wasn't 100% positive, but I don't get Lee dislike. It sometimes seems like people just assume expensive = better. And maybe in some cases it is, I just don't see paying 2 or 3x for a Dillon or something at this point in my life. Lee also seems innovative, like does anyone else use the powder through expander die system? Looks like just Lee and Hornady, RCBS doesn't.

FWIW; I got a Lee turret about 13 years ago, and disabled the auto-index 12.9 years ago. As I understand the ratchet was made so it would break before any major damage was done to the press, ie.; a "sacrificial" part. If the press was binding or something was keeping the press from working properly and more pressure is applied, the ratchet would break before a handle broke or the risers tweeked, etc...:scrutiny:

Lee makes some good stuff, some great stuff, and some real doo doo. Fortunately their stuff is comparatively inexpensive and usually worth the gamble.

I would agree with this statement. I always recommend Lee products...if nothing else you have to respect a guy who does all his production stateside and still keeps his prices at Chinese junk levels.

I have had excellent service from Lee. Used customer service numerous times all my fault. Nothing was wrong with the tools just my actions. They soled all my problems free of charge. I emailed them recently about the new primer trays on the Ergo hand primer. In 2 days I had the new ones at my door.

The only thing I wasnt satisfied with was the deluxe trimmer. It didnt trim as consistent as I liked. I bought a Wilson case trimmer so no need for any other models though I was satisfied with the Lee hand trimmer, it was just too slow.

My Lee PPM when set throws IMR4350 perfect everytime. Easily within the +/-.01 gr. I cant say anything bad about Lee. They are priced better than others and everything works as advertised. If something doesnt work call CS and Peter will explain how to fix it. If I had the money I would buy Redding comp seating dies but I dont need them.

The ratchets are Nylon not plastic. After who knows how many years and thousands of rounds I am still on the original one. Plus they give you an extra one with the press. They only break if you twist the turret when the rod is engaged You can get them at Midway or Titan also so add a few to a order of some other stuff. or a 6 pack on flea bay.

Lee decapping pins are guaranteed for life, they are actually from roller bearings.
