I have not heard about these scopes before, but recently heard a rave review. What can you guys tell me about these scopes? What has been your experience? Who makes them?

Whenever someone asks the ''what scope should I use'' question the SS 10x is my go to answer.

I have had mine for over a year and have been very satisfied with it, no it is not a US Optics, but it does not carry the price tag of one ether.

I originally had it on my Rem. 700 .308, and it performed as it should retuning to zero, and making the correct changes when dialed up or down.

I have it on my S&W AR right now for some load development untill I get my scope base for my new Rem 700, then I will use it untill I get a N.F. or the new Vortex.

SWFA scopes are made in Japan. Numerous reports have the Classic line made by Kenko. SWFA says the HD line is made by a different company, and they cost more, so they're probably made by LOW.

I've had them for 10 years or so on one or more precision rifles. I didn't care for the 16X too much, the FOV seemed too small, and not too bright with a 42mm objective. I really like the MilQuad 10X and 12X models.

Nothing negative really though. A lot of scope for the cost. Good repeatable turrets, lots of elevation travel, useful reticle, I like the rear parallax, being a southpaw.

This is a 10X MilQuad on a 308 Win.

If you are on a sub $500 budget, the set power swfa ss scope are the best there is. I have 3 of them, a 10x and 2 16x and as said before they are tough as hell, the turrets track, and swfa really stands behind them with warranty work!

not really a fan of fixed power scopes, but if you're going to get a fixed power, then 10x is the best compromise. don't expect to be shooting running deer at 30 yards though.

a micro red dot on the side may be a good idea, but if you've got the $ for that, then maybe getting a variable scope in the first place might be the way to go.

if you only plan to shoot precision and past 100 with it, then the red dot is unnecessary

I had one of the 10x42 on a 30/06 for probably 2 years and the elevation adjustment failed. This scope had lived a hard life however. SWFA sent me a new replacement scope and it's now mounted on the same rifle and I have confidence in the scope and also SWFA.

Their awesome optics, you will not find a better scope for the money.

I've had the 3x9 and fixed 10x ones. Not one single complaint with either. Unfortuanately I had to sell both, but would not hesitate to buy another.

I've never owned a SS, but in my sporadic fits of intense optics researching, virtually every word I've come across about them has been highly positive.

One thing about buying one of these scopes or any mil-dot scope is to not get the MOA adjustments for elevation and windage. Get the mil-mil it's much simpler using this along with the mil-dots. You don't have to convert back and forth between mils and inches.

My 16x SS is my favorite scope. The windage turret sticks out there a ways, but it is easy to use. The glass lacks the image quality of scopes starting at a lower price point, but the image is good enough for my use. For $300.00 it is a good buy. I wanted the 3x15, but there was a 12 week wait at the time.

I mounted a new replacement SS 10X42 during the winter. I sighted it in on my 30/06 to max point blank range with 208 grain Amax bullets which are very accurate in this rifle. I had not shot with this scope other than sight in. On Friday I shot this rifle 2 shots at 800 yards. The JBM calculations said to come up 17.1 MOA for 800 so I did and fired a shot and hit the target. The second shot on a different target was a very near miss.

For me that was a very lucky shot. Anyway I like the scope.

Thanks to all of you for the feedback. That's why I like THR people...always willing to spend a little time to help.
