What do you use? I'm talking about basically everything except guns, ammo, powder, and primers. All that 'stuff'. I'm getting tired of using a drawer here, a couple drawers over there, this shelf, that shelf, random rubbermaid type container, etc. I recently "lost" an expensive pistol magazine for weeks until it turned up in a loose unorganized pile of other lesser magazines in a random drawer.

Pictures definitely welcome, as are product descriptions or part numbers or links to specific things

Magazines, holsters, cleaning supplies, spare parts, extra/take-off parts, tools, lube...

My guns are in my gun safe except for my self defense stuff, as are most of my mags. Other accessories and most ammo are stored in a double door metal cabinet, like you see holding office supplies. I consider myself lucky to have a dedicated room in the house as my loading room that is also large enough for my safe.

From Harbor freight 300 -400$ (sales, special coupons, currently $390)

All the big machines and tool boxes in my shop are on casters. This is a good quality box, and you can use the top for gun cleaning or repairs. I'm totally satisfied with it.

Dedicated room in the basement for all things reloading, shooting, gun cleaning, etc including gun safe and wall racks, heavy duty steel shelves, and pegboard above benches.
Wife calls it "the bullet hole" and she knows she is not allowed to place or move anything in there. There is a small table outside the lockable door if she picks up my Elec ear protection or a few rounds of brass or something she thinks should be in there. It is only locked when small children or house guests are present.

I also use a rolling tool chest, actually two small ones, I think they were under $100 each at K-Mart. One has a cabinet at the bottom that’s tall enough for powder jars to stand upright. Each drawer has it’s own purpose; tools, reloading dies, ammo boxes, etc.

For most of my gun related tools (cleaning rods, screwdrivers, wrenches), I use plastic shoe box size containers with a lid on it. For smaller stuff I have an old Plano tackle box with parts and accessories in the separate compartments. All my other tools are in a couple of tool boxes and everything else, like holsters, belts, magazines, scopes, extra grips, are in their own storage totes.

One dedicated room has it all. Everything has it's place. Boxes labeled with it's contents (grips for ______, grips for ______, grips for ______, grip frames for _____, grip frames for _____, magazines for brand X, brand Y and brand z. All parts get the plastic divided totes - one for single actions, one for 10/22's, one for rings/mounts. Keeping things organized is a must for me.

I have a couple of those heavy-duty Sterilite plastic totes from Target that I use to keep all my gun accessories and stuff. As for cleaning supplies, I use a Plano tackle box and it works very well to keep everything organized and is light and small enough to take anywhere:

I like to pick up old military footlockers whenever I find a nice one for a fair price. They can usually be found at flea markets for $20-$40 and are great for storage. It's best to get one with the tray, but they are easy to make if that isn't an option. They stack really well, just like ammo cans and most have a hasp for locking if desired.

I have a shelf and base that are gun stuff only, in the grouch cave . I have a tackle box that i use for the cleaning kit .a gun cradle good lighting shelving for supplies a stool to sit on

Well, I still use the "random drawer" method--but, I have excess drawers available. I also use a couple of under-bed storage bins. Those have some virtues--they can be completely opened, so, they do not hide anything.
For cleaning stuff, I have an over-sized tool box which has four slide-out shelves. Those all have toolbox shelf liner in them. They than have a mix of tackle box sub-boxes, and some inter-locking dividers.

I live by myself, in a house I own. So my 'situation' is different, of course. (Just like everyone else's, it seems.)

The local 'big box' hardware/lumber store has shelf units based on vertical runners attached to studs and shelf holders which hook in to the runners, forming the supports for horizontal shelves. The local 'Dollar' store (or what ever it's called in your area) usually has clear plastic storage boxes WITH tight covers (I live in a dusty area) which will fit on the shelves.

Recently I sorted a bunch of handgun grips/stocks by size and firearm model and put them in the boxes. Many of them are 'spares' and a couple are collectable and sort of collectable items. AND I can find them easily or take them to the gun show as desired.

Same idea for holsters (I have between five and 40,000 old holsters I don't use.) Scopes, rings for scopes, perhaps gun parts can be segregated the same way.

On the subject of storage; some of the larger plastic boxes with lids will work for my 'winter sweaters' and other seasonal clothing. It goes out of the way in dust proof boxes until I need them again. Same for 'summer' clothing.

I use a variation of Cooldill's idea. A 'sorting and storage' bin for small parts (electrical connectors or screws and nuts) with movable dividers kept all the 'change parts' for the Dillon progressive in my loading room. Also, a cheap set of rack mounted bins make sorting brass by head stamp or caliber or other smallish doodads much quicker and easier.

Most of my empty brass is in surplus ammo cans. Loaded 'practice' ammo is typically stored in small ammo cans (I'm not strong enough to use large ammo cans for bullets or loaded ammo). For some calibers (.22 centerfires mostly) I use medium ammo cans for empty brass and bullets, watching total weight.

There are a couple of blank walls in the basement with various hooks for gun belts, hearing protectors, and other 'stuff' which don't store in a box so well. I have one or two designated range boxes for equipment I take to the range regularly (Squib rods, generic screw driver, a small note book, stapler and staples, a 'Sharpie' for making notes on targets, duck tape (in case my duck breaks) and such).

Oh, if you have a CED Chronograph, spend the money and buy the carrier. Everything fits and it's ready to go all the time.

Age old problem...

I use a combination of a: "safe room" built under my 3 car garage with vault door, large tool chest, metal lockers, plastic totes, and steel shelving. For small parts I use plastic tackle boxes (with the removable dividers) from Wally World:

9mm, .45ACP and .40 SW brass I just have stacked up in kitty litter containers.

Currently I'm on the lookout for a couple wall lockers for hunting clothes. Oh, and break down and get one of those little label makers........you're going to need it.

Chuck

Label maker may come in handy. I also have brass stacked in cat litter containers, also protein powder tubs and Homer Buckets.

The rolling tool chests seem like they would be pretty good, all those short pull out drawers intended for wrenches and other mechanics tools would be great for single layers of magazines and parts (the deeper drawers I can't keep organized because once it's more than one layer tall it's just a jumble)

Most of my misc stuff is now sorted into stackable plastic boxes from Wally world (about $3 each) and labeled. Ex: "AR15 parts", "M&P parts", "Glock magazines", "Tanfo parts", etc.

Check out some of the Husky tool chests at Home Depot.

I bought a couple around Christmas - had 'em on sale.

I have these two boxes:

I got the lighted one around Christmas for under $288 (sale price).

I like the butcher block top on 'em - they also have smooth operating drawers (ball bearings).

I also have a number of these black, heavy(ier) duty black wire racks I bought off eBay - prices seem to have gone up as I was getting them for around $70 at one time.

Weight limit is supposed to be 3,600 lbs, which is much more than most similar racks. Note the support running along the middle under each shelf - these shelf units probably have thicker metal than most you see, and the reinforcing rib running under each shelf is much more robust than the usual single wire (probably around 6 of them) running front to back under most shelf units like this.
Can use with wheels, but weight limit is nowhere close to 3,500 lbs. if you use the wheels.
I have various sizes of these shelves - got lots of dark smoke Sterlite boxes at Walmart to go on each shelf.

If you're really interested, I seem to remember seeing similar shelves on Amazon back when I was shopping, but the ones on Amazon had a 5,000 lb. or more weight limit and weren't priced that much higher (if you really need the weight rating).

Two key things I do. Put labels on things that won't fall off. Then, put things in the proper labeled containers that have some sort of theme to them.

As for the containers, I use the following: 5 gallon buckets from Home Depot with lids, plastic ammo cans, big Tupperware containers. I like the first two, items as they stack well.

I use the EXACT box shown there, and it even looks to be organized the same way. LOL

I have the heavy duty wire shelves covered, that is a big part of the ammo and reloading supplies already being taken care of.

I think I'm going to pick up a smaller (less expensive, and I have to lug it up narrow bonus room stairs) tool chests (seem to be aimed at mechanics and setting on top of larger cabinets) with the ball bearing slide out drawers 1.5-3" deep...and look into that sterilite container/tackle box thing. Pistol mags and good parts and stuff in the slide out drawers, cleaning stuff and the like in the plastic...keep holsters and bulky stuff like that in my cheap plastic crappy drawers...yeah

I took an old transfer switch housing and put shelves in it. I have a lot of stuff in it, but I also have it on closet shelves, floors, stuffed under the reloading bench, in a cabinet over the reloading bench, on a shelf between it and the bench, under the TS housing, under the small desk where my computer is, stuck in the corner, on a four shelf shelving unit, on top of that unit, on top of the safe .......

All over the place.
