Why Don't You Just Paint "I have guns inside" on the side of it?

Naloxone (Narcan) for opioid overdose. Not narcotic, but not OTC. It may have been Methadone, which is a narcotic and is used to treat heroin addiction.

So this nut is an FFL? If convicted of any felonies he can kiss that goodbye I guess.

Hmmm, a cracked windshield. Unless the windshield is horribly spider webbed, there is NO WAY a cop can see if there is crack.

WTH would you consent to LET th ecops search your vehicle? You tell them to "get a warrant".

Last, if you have weed in your car, don't drive such a gaudy car.

I believe the drug that stops a heroin overdose is a controlled substance.

Could have been a legit prescription drug too. Wouldn't surprise me if they piled as many charges on them as possible to hope at least a few of them stick.

I'm sorry, but I don't see calling him names for what he was driving. Seems it's probably his vehicle he uses to advertise his business when going to events, like a traveling billboard (which you can use as a tax break). The decals seem to be sponsors and it is painted to get attention. Go to any hunting or firearms convention and you'll see them from Mossy Oak camo trucks decked out with gun racks to Manufactures graphics on Jeeps and 4WD's.

As far as the drugs, my wife carries Rx pain meds for degenerative disc disease everywhere we go, so they may just be piling on charges. Should he had the guns in that state? I don't know what he was doing, or thought he was doing, but it seems there is a big deal being made out of a little thing.

You know, like when they claim you had an arsenal when you had a .22 marlin mod. 60, a Remington 870 and a Marlin 336 along with a Glock handgun, and then combine all the ammo to "shockingly" report you had over a thousand rounds of ammunition, even though some of that was the three value packs of 325 round boxes of .22 LR.

There simply is no excuse for taking that vehicle into enemy territory. It is perfectly fine around home as an attention grabber. But when you must blend in, rent a late model sedan and drive with traffic. It sounds like he was an emotional crusader following his heart not his head. Unfortunately they probably will not be able to vote this November unless they get a speedy pardon.

The stupid part is that having guns in NYC is illegal.

The crime is we have to slink around to do what we have a right to do.

I don't believe FOPA applies, since apparently those firearms were not legal to possess at his destination.

I would speculate that their only hope is to get the original stop for the cracked windshield thrown out. Depending on the facts, a good defense attorney might be able to successfully argue that point.

Yes, they are pretty much screwed because they posted on social media that Brooklyn was their ultimate destination. What compels people to share their private thoughts with people they don't even know?

One could argue that the police stopped them as they were leaving a state, having passed through it legally assuming they followed Federal guidelines for proper firearm transportation. I hate to make assumptions, but I'll go ahead and predict they did not have every gun in a case separated from the ammo, and difficult to reach under normal circumstances.

They advertised NY was their ultimate destination, the police who stopped them, Port Authority of NY & NJ Police, have jurisdiction in both states. They better hope their attorneys can get the broken windshield stop thrown out or they're in deep poop.

Once a case rears it's ugly head in the media, normal plea bargaining generally goes out the window.

Not since last weeks Supreme Court decision that even if the search was illegal the evidence obtained is still admissible.

This is some serious irony.

You do realize that is precisely what you are doing with every post to this forum, yes?

I assure you this isn't as anonymous as some people (and seemingly you) think.

I'm thinkin' the stop had more to do with what the accused posted on social media, than what was painted on the side of the truck. The decorations on the truck just made the vehicle more identifiable and easier to find....and stop, since photographs of the truck had been posted on social media also. So were the previous statements made by the accused to "shoot your local heroin dealer". Odds are, someone made a anonymous tip. Funny the guy claimed he was going to save a 16 year old girl from drugs and then had drugs in his possession. Why is it whenever someone does or is going to do something stupid, they have to boast about it on social media? The guy has no one to blame but himself.

I assure you you will never see me posting anything here or any other place on the interweb espousing anything illegal. Nor would I do so in private email or on the phone.

I can't even remember that last time I did something illegal. I've been in jails many times, lodging others, I have no wish to ever see, or smell, the inside of one again.

From what I've read, the drug they possessed was marijuana. It's not inconceivable that an anti-heroin crusader is also a weed smoker. (I think it's a bit hypocritical, but that's just me.) The fact that the "other drugs" were not mentioned by name suggests to me that they weren't significant: maybe some legitimate prescription drugs.

It appears that these folks were on some kind of a vigilante mission. I don't fault them if they wanted to free a woman who was being held against her will, but that kind of thing works better in Chuck Norris movies than it does in real life.

I also don't fault them for driving that vehicle: free country, etc. I do fault them for choosing that particular vehicle for their mission into the heart of anti-gun New York City.

One way or another they were clueless, either of the political climate in NYC re guns, or of the amount of attention their vehicle was going to get. And if they thought they'd get a free pass from the NYPD because of their ultimate goal, then they're really clueless.

I think it is less hypocritical than an anti-heroin (or anti-meth or anti-cocaine or anti-crack) crusader, or LEO, or especially say a DEA employee or officer, who has a beer with dinner.

This is too stupid to be what it appears to be. My guess it's some kind of test case. I really don't think that anyone could have been this stupid. If so he should get some kind of award for being the Dumbest SOB that ever lived on the planet.

Fair enough, although there is the legal aspect to consider too, especially with LEO. You shouldn't be locking people up for things you do yourself.
