Lee LCT case kicker - Inline Fab Review

I treated myself to a Father's Day present and picked up the Inline Fabrication case kicker full boat kit ($65) for my LCT.

It came very well packed in a USPS Priority Mail box.

To install it under my press I did need to enlarge the three mounting holes in the heavy metal plate they supply due to the size of my lag screws. Not their fault-lol

It went together with zero issues with just an adjustment of the turret indexing and doggone if it doesn't work just dandy. I frankly wondered if it would a difference but having run it for a hundred .45 ACP rounds this morning I can happily report that it DOES noticeably increase the through-put of the press. Still not at a progressive pace but since I now only place the empty case once and don't touch it again it simplifies and speeds up the process.

Consider me happy camper - or should I say reloader?

Confession, I did bugger up one of the supplied rubber fingers that kick out the case but they look like standard auto vacuum caps so I have some of those on order too.
 
Thanks for the review. Seems like a neat product. I might just "need" one, just need to allocate the funds (three new ar lowers purchased on sale are not helping my case....)

And have never had a problem since!
 
Good to know, I'll report back if the vacuum caps also works, if not I'll be at Autozone making that purchase of tubing - great tip!.
 
I found the rubber fingers hang up at the top of the ram stroke on some of my dies and get chewed up. The hard tubing is slick and much more durable. It never hangs up. Good luck with the inline fab kit. I love mine. As you note, it really speeds things up! Your next purchase should be the ergo press roller lever. [emoji6]
You'll feel like you got a new press all over again!
 
<chuckle> Well, after convincing myself for about the fifth time in the past coupla years that I did not need this accessory, I went ahead and ordered one.

What finally tipped me over was the same thing that draws me to making purchases at the LGS even though I know that I will pay more than I would online; support for small business.

It is such a clever accessory and, heck, it is only 60bucks, delivered, so ... ;)

I will use it to mildly improve production speed on some "standardized" pistol loads (.45acp, 9x17, 9x18, .32-20, .44spc).

The more I'm using it and getting the 'tempo' down, it really is much faster.

My LCT is now my 'poor man's' progressive press - lol - still slow enough to pay attention to everything and enjoy the relaxing pastime, all the while churning out the product.

Dan should work with Lee Mfg and market this right along with the press kit. It is reverse rotation but if all the LCTs came that way upfront? No issues.
 
Since this thing is reverse rotation, do you have to reset your dies in reverse order? thanks, JD
 
Sizing/decapping die and the bullet seating die stay in place on the turret. You just swap powder and Final Crimp dies to allow for the counter-rotation.

Only have to do the change-over once on all my turrets -the kicker mechanicals stay on the press. Takes a couple minutes max.
 
Help needed

I bought this reverse thingy and I cant get it to index right it indexes only half way it driving me koo coo seriously need some help in this HELP !!!!:cuss::banghead: And yes I have gone over the instructions
 
First off, be sure you are using a full strike of the ram.

Mine needed a very slight tweak of the assembly to index perfectly from then on. The procedure I used comes from the Lee self-help videos.

Remove the turret and rod, hold the turret firmly in one hand with the rod inserted in the base and use a small wrench to slightly turn the square rod in one direction - SLIGHTLY - re-assemble on the press and see the result. Repeat as necessary or change direction of slight turn. It takes only a small adjustment to the rod to adjust the indexing.
 
I have tried it 8 ways to Sunday the best effort only goes half way then it doesn't budge any more I have my iPad next to my bench I know I must be doing it wrong and I go at it very slowly :(:banghead::cuss: maybe one day giving up on today maybe tomorrow thanks for the comment ;)
 
If you can post a few pics, maybe something will be apparent?

Are you sure the turret is fully seated?
 
I've been tempted to buy one. But I can't see it speeding it up that much. How long does it take to remove a case from the shell holder? Maybe one second? And then a few more to place a new one in the shell holder. Obviously the less you handle the case faster it's going to be. But I haven't been able to justify the cost for a minimal increase in production. Maybe it's because I have a 550B if I really want to make ammo quickly.
 
Got it right finally

Took a dip in the pool after dinner went back at it in in a few minutes I GOT IT RIGHT Yeah thanks to all keep it simple silly :D:D:D
 
Dragon, I was curious enough to buy one. It certainly helps but for sure theres no comparison to a Dillon. Thinking about manual operations on a turret press, the hand not running th crank does 25% fewer movements (insert case, primer into arm, add bullet, remove case). I think its >1s improvement per round, as I can go from placing the bullet to grabbing the next case and having it ready to insert in the press, rather than remove the first case, then go grab the next one between strokes of the ram.

Before the addition I could comfortably and safely run 100 38s in 40 minutes. I figure with the kicker to save about 5 minutes of that.
 
Check this out it makes a turret into a progressive press for a lot less dough I had no idea until a few weeks ago with the kicker and the rcbs bullet seater you could easily double your output
 
I have no doubt it's a nice product but paying $60 for a little thinkie to kick the case and a small ramp is just not for me. If it were $19.95 I would think about it, even though shipping is included.

I often find it interesting when folks look at a savings in time as an absolute measure, when it should really be a relative measure of time saved.

By not having to remove the case, you're cutting your required arm movement by a quarter (assuming you place your bullet by hand). You're also more efficient in arm movement since your hand can be bringing a new case to the shellholder while the case if being ejected...as opposed to having to 1) remove the case, 2) reach for a new case, and 3) insert the new case.

I would think your savings would be in excess of 30%

You're leaving out the pricing for the other 5 parts

Just to give you an idea, the newly introduced Ejector system for the Lee Classic Cast single stage is $35 (including shipping) if you just want the Ejector head, bin clamp, and ramp
