That's what I concluded. I ordered a GI guide & plug AND a 1-piece FLGR. I'm going to test them out against the OEM 2-piece guide and generate my own first-hand opinion. Other than blasting off and nuking the entire site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.
I'll post my own results once I conclude the test and make a selection.

I ordered Wilson hardware, through Brownells.

Then you need to order a flat wire recoil spring, gi- and full-length 1/4" diameter guide rods for it, and a plug for the new FLGR, just to cover the waterfront, so to speak...

I got my loot. I wanted to see how it all worked. The blue locktite on the OEM Springfield 2-piece guide rod held on good. It took a lot of torque on the Allen wrench to remove it. I wasn't happy with that.
Then I tried the GI rod and plug. Desktop function was fine. Though this 1911 isn't as smooth with the GI components.
Then I tried the 1-piece Wilson guide rod. It functions on the desktop fine, and is as smooth as the OEM. Field strip doesn't require a tool either. So far, this is my favorite.
I'll do a function and accuracy test soon.
