Is the ATF eForms site down for anyone else?

My buddy that was trying yesterday that was getting a message about the server being down was able to get in later in the day so keep trying for those who still need to do it. And worse case, print off the form 1 and mail it in tomorrow.

Tomorrow is post 41F.

"PLEASE NOTE: Final Rule 41F becomes effective JULY 13, 2016. Applications received with a post-mark of July 13, 2016 and after will be processed according to the specifications of 41F."

 Holy crap that sucks. I think a lot of people are under the impression tomorrow is the last day (I know I was). Thanks for clearing up. Luckily it doesn't affect me but my buddy is going up this evening for his last suppressor :(

I was going to SBS a double gun at the 11th hour just for one last hurrah, but the eforms site is down. Oh well, I guess the crappy ATF website just did me a favor and saved me $200 because I can't mail a paper form tomorrow.

Tried to log in this morning to see if my application submitted last week had been approved, the system is still down.

Did we hit it with a knockout punch???

It is back up now. Or it was about an hour ago. Running real slow. And, sadly, but unsurprisingly, there is no more ability to file a Form 1 for Trusts via eForms.

Where'd you get that idea?

I logged onto the site, of course. Interestingly, there is a note that suggests Form 1 may be coming back:

Due to the provisions of 41F the ATF Forms 1 and 5 are temporarily unavailable for submission through the eForms system. The forms were removed to allow ATF the opportunity to revise the forms and the workflows associated with the forms to incorporate the new requirements of 41F. While we do not have a specific date as to when the forms will be available again, we are working diligently to bring these forms back at a future point in time.

Since you currently cannot do fingerprints & passport photos in their system and Trusts now require those, e-filing form 1's is done. I don't see them implementing anything new that works anytime soon but hopefully I'm wrong.

Hmmm, I called the BATFE on July 8, and was told trust applications had to be postmarked by the 13th to be processed under the older rules. I guess calling them for help is like calling the IRS.

Mine hit their PO box on Monday, my credit card got hit yesterday.

You don't Form 1 a Suppressor, it requires a Form 4
Thats odd... I have an approved Form 1 for a suppressor and two pre-41f Form 1s pending for cans as well...

Maybe you are unaware that you can make suppressors yourself?

Well I guess pdsmith505, Ryanxia and I are all screwed because I have a few form1s in the pipeline waiting for approval to make suppressors. SMH, it's those children of unmarried couples at the gobment making up rules and not telling us, fooled by them again.......................

Oh, hope they use that money the collected from me for something useful like education of the masses.

:neener:

With over 2,000 gun laws on the books its easy to get things mixed up. If I had a dollar for every time I had been mistaken about a law, my next tax stamp would be free! :D

A suppressor is nothing more than a small volume muffler. I built my first muffler for a motorcycle when i was 13, so a suppressor shouldn't be that difficult...

There is a lot more pressure coming out of a large center fire caliber than a motorcycle exhaust I would think. And there's a lot of factors like material (do you want aluminum, titanium, steel), full auto rated, thread patterns and tolerances. Not to mention making it look good, I just think depending on someone's skill it's easier to make a factory-like suppressor or (in my case) nothing close to it lol.

The pressure is significantly higher, especially at the first baffle, but the heat is similar, and no full auto in the world can compete with the cyclic rate of a high performance 4CYL. With a lathe and a mill the tolerances are pretty easy to achieve, and the concept is similar to a muffler. Complicated, yes. Hard? No.
