Hop this is the right spot I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with the different ak pistols with a brace I know there was a big deal with the a.t. f saying that shooting from the shoulder with one mad it a s.b.r but from what I have found you can use it as a cheek brace and have 3 point of contact instead of 2 points just wanted to find out if anyone has had any experience with them and how they would be as a close quarter weapon say out to a hundred yards

I have one and really enjoy it. I also have an AR15 pistol with brace. If I had to do it again I would skip the AK pistol and just stick with the rifle length AK. I think the AR makes a better pistol because of (slightly) less recoil. That being said, the 7.62x39 is way more effective out of a pistol than 5.56.

That what made wonder I know 5.56 n.a.t.o losses a lot of power out of the shorter barrel and I know the 7.62x39 will punch through a lot of things that the 5.56 will not but then the a.r is a more accurate gun from what I have read what kind of groups do you get with your and at what range I could not see it being more than a hundred yards to me it would be a close quarter weapon to put a lot of power down range when a rifle is to big

My understanding is that the gov says if you put that thing in your shoulder you have somehow changed the classification of that firearm. The 7.62x39 round in something that short makes for a pretty "jumpy" set-up in a rapid fire mode, IME.

Shorter barrels=better inherent accuracy. It is the loss of velocity that will be your limiter for long range stuff with this firearm. With 7.62x39 it should be about the same as a 16" barrel.

So you are saying that the a.k handgun can match the 16in carben know is that based on what you have done with yours and if so at what kind of range

I'm calling BS...length of barrel does not make it more accurate. Length of barrel affects velocities.

I put a Sig Brace on my PAP M85NP pistol. If I were to do it again, I would have gone with the shockwave as I like it's looks better and more importantly, it's lighter and cost much less.

I like the AK pistol due to the fact that you can fire it when the brace is folded. You're not going to do that with an AR15 without having major issues.

Given the same barrel profile and all other things being equal (are they ever, really?), a shorter barrel will be stiffer and therefore more accurate.

One of the gun rags tested this idea years ago, testing for accuracy, then cutting 1" off the barrel (16" or so to begin), recrowning, and testing again until the barrel was ridiculously short.

Indeed the velocity decreased. They used a scope, so sight radius didn't factor in accuracy.

It was an interesting article, but I'm not sure how much of that translates into an AK pistol vs rifle argument. Probably none.

The BAFTE Technical Division claims this, but they have no law to back them up, as there is no illegal way to shoot a pistol (legally defined as a firearm intended to be shot with one hand).

Guess which tuning fork has the lowest frequency and deepest note?

Now guess which barrel will flex at a lower frequency and have some accuracy swing due to it? Precision rifles have been getting shorter and shorter for a reason. 18" is popular now. It's splitting hairs, but it's there.

OP, I prefer AR15's with a Thordson buffer cover kit or Shockwave brace.
