Nice old Model 28; the grips are the icing on the cake! Great find Craig!

Don't you hate it when you go to your local gunshop for one thing and find something else that you absolutely must have?:D

.
Wow. Another great addition to the Craig C Armory!

I had been looking at some Models 57 and 58 recently online... looking for something minty but they're certainly pricey. Then my LGS called to tell me they just got a few 327 M&P R8s in stock. There went some of *that* money...

I'll have a 4" DA some day, though.

:)

For me, a 4" N-frame just begs to be shot. It will get its wish this afternoon. ;)

Doesn't happen too often around here!

But.....it doesn't say USFA on it, Craig.
What happened? :D

The M28 HP is arguably the best N-frame Smith ever made. There's just something about them that endears them to the heart. That one's nice.

a beautiful 4-screw n frame. probably shoots better than it looks!

suggest you check that the barrel isn't canted. the pinned barrels tend to move a bit (mine moved a bunch).

luck,

Nice gun. I have one similar to it. I have the model 28. It belonged to my dad. He bought it new. Brought it home, threw away the box, loaded it and stuck it in his nightstand. He never fired it.

When he passed away in 2005 I got the rest of his guns including the model 28. I have never fired it. Other than whatever factory test it went through it is unfired. But what a fantastic trigger it has.

We need a range report.

They made purtier guns than the HP, but they din't make any that is better.

The Model 28 is the GMC 4X4 of the S&W line.
