New Dumb idea! "Battle worn Finish"

20,000 rounds, thousands of presentations, tens of thousands if dryfires will turn a Glock grey instead of black.
I suppose if your gun is a talisman and not a tool, then doing it the easy way makes sense.

What it tells me is somebody(Millennials?) want the end result of using something without really having to use it.

Glock 19 Gen3 - Comes with 2 15RD Mags - USA Made w/ Nickel Boron Finish Battle Worn - Distributor Exclusive!

The NIB BATTLEWORN is a dark shade of gray with an aesthetically distressed, modern “battle” finish. NIB BATTLEWORN creates a smooth and uniform plating barrier without adding significant dimension to the metal part, increases the surface hardness of the plated part, and produces a products that is superior to competing plating systems.

Ok this has gone far enough, these are guns, not fashion accessories. This was taken from an AD on slickguns, I thought it was for a used, or Police, turn in. But no, it's a new gun with a distressed finish. "499.00"
Hell I would tie one to my bumper and someone who wanted a "distressed look" could have it in a few minutes for $450.00. for a few bucks extra I would even rip off the sights, and leave it in the rain with no protection on it to give it that rustic look.
Maybe even stripple the sides with some birdshot.
Guns are catching up to knives. For years knife makers have raised the bar by making a blade more visualy appealing.

While i don't care for a battle worn finish specifically, I've seen some cool finishes that just make a gun look amazing.

Interestingly, of the two M1 Carbines I have, Son2 wants the beat-up one with actual battle scars on it. Metal's pretty good, but the wood looks like it has taken a couple of fragments here and there among other "stresses."

First world problems. lol

I have a leather jacket that's got honest wear from 30+ years of use. I can buy a new one that looks the same. Thanks, but I'd still prefer the old one.

Do remember though in Army basic training how we all wanted our uniforms, boots, etc. to look "salty" so we weren't so easily recognized as newbies.

any chance people want the 'worn' look because guns in video games are often modeled with external wear showing?

And that is they way you want it done. Not some fake spray on to look 'experienced'.

It's like the 3-5 days worth of beard stubble that's the fashion now. Show's a person is experienced and you should listen when they talk. Set the razor not to give a clean shave...just the right amount of stubble.

Honestly I don't think anybodies trying to "pretend" their pistol has wear on it.

It would be much cheaper just to drag it through the gravel a few times. My guess is some folks just like the look. Saw a picture of a HKP30SK recently done up the same way, but with greenish highlights.

Not for me, but I gave up loosing sleep over how folks spend their discretionary income some time ago.

So, buy a gun that looks like it either did something, or just wasn't taken care of. I have no words.

This doesn't look bad to me on an AR. They call it War Torn, but I think it looks more antiqued. I just like the color.

It's easy to dis but it's a choice folks have and it's up to them.

FAS1, My first thought looking at that pic was ,"Look at all the places on that rifle they're going to get grass and junk stuck"
My second thought was, "That grip looks like it's going to be uncomfortable as heck to shoot a lot"

Then I thought, "Oh... nevermind."

IMHO a camo pattern looks better and is probably more effective after it's dirty and a bit scuffed.

A real battle worn finish would have a story behind it and the story would be interesting. I wouldn't pay for faux "battle worn finish"; I have too many military veteran friends for me to wanna look like a poser.

I think steampunk styling would sell to small niche market. Different strokes for different folks.

It might be amusing to watch someone trying to re-sell a "battle worn gun" as like-new ("Honest, it's only had fifty rounds through it at an indoor range.")

That, or shaving sucks and clean-shaven faces for gas masks aren't the military-inspired fashion these days ;)

Well Apple, I really only posted it for the color reference. You should look at all the crazy gun builds on Instagram sometime. That billet grip seems to be a hot item lately, especially on a lightweight AR, and probably built without comfort in mind.

You might like this one better :)

I wanted a "battle worn" finish for an AR. So, I purchased surplus parts. All the beat up look with cheaper pricing. I didnt have to pay anyone $$$ to make it look like crap, police and military did it for me.

I do. For sure. That thing is pretty cool. You can see where they were going with the build, and it makes sense.
I don't see me getting one any time soon, I have always been an A2 guy, so it's a bit over the top for me. But cool never the less.

That Glock just doesn't look right.

Reminds me of the benchwarmers in high school football who'd dive and wallow on the ground in pre-game warmups to get dirt and grass stains on their uniforms.

They didn't fool anyone.:)
