The buck with no head, hide or legs (removed at the elbows/knees) The buck dressed out at 150lbs at the butcher. He estimated the bucks live weight at 300lbs.

Hes a great buck though! We certainly didn't expect this at all due to hot weather and lack of deer. The wind we had that day, pushed deer and elk down out of the rim rock, into the valley where they could get out of the wind and feed in the little parks between the smaller mountains.

I will have my brother in law type up his side of the story since it was his hunt.

A great mature 4x4.

What?!?!?! Just a measly 3 point? :>)

Just kidding. Looks like a fatso buck with lots of tallow that can be used for lube. Beautiful beast. Roughly, where were you hunting?

with muleys the eye guards count when measuring inches, when they are at least an inch, but generally aren't included in the point count as they are so often tiny or non-existant. Yours is a commonly called a "3 point with eye guards". But dang! That's a nice one! Meaty, beaty, big and bouncy!

So glad to see a traditional ML used! I really get tired of the inlines - I realize that like the traditionals there is only one shot, but pelletized powder, sabots, shotgun primers, and scopes all change the game. I fear that we are going to see the ML hunts go away as the in-lines simply become too effective.

Shoot, I am such a traditionalist, I carry my flintlock long rifle because I like it, and will choose it over something that might increase my odds just because I like walking the woods with my firelock, pouch, and powderhorn.

I have always liked the look of the Hawken and the local pawn shop is rife.... hmmm nice shooting!

Mule deer have a special place in my life and I hunt them every chance I get. Are you going to do a shoulder mount? Just as a hobby I do taxidermy work for my friends and this year I have one big mule deer to mount. If you get your deer mounted by one of the local taxidermists I would suggest a McKenzie original series mule deer form, something like a MU966 or MU967. It looks like it has about a 7 1/2 eye to tip of nose measurement and is about 22 inches at the smallest point behind the head. The cape would have to be measured to determine the correct form number. They really make a pretty mount and putting one on the wall enhances a long term memory.
