I am looking for a new running buddy. My current gun is a Kel tec p11 inside a belly band. It has served me well but I am wondering if there is another option out there that has a better trigger. Any ideas? The Kel tec weighs 22 oz loaded.

The Walther P99c is a really exceptional carry gun. Double stack. 9mm 10+1 and can carry a full size 15rd backup mag with grip adaptor. It's got world class ergonomics and an awesome DA/SA striker fired trigger with a decocked. Super short reset too. As reliable as a Glock and very accurate. Pretty sexy too. It weighs 21.5 ounces with an empty mag. Here's mine:

I think your Keltec (and the sccy cpx-2 copy/clone) are about as light as it gets in double-stack 9mms. As to a better trigger, these are both true DAO, so I guess it depends if you want to get away from that.

To the best of my knowledge these are the smallest lightest double-stack nines:

SCCY CPX-2
Caliber: 9mm
Barrel: 3.1 in
Length: 5.7 in
Height: 4.0 in (without mag extensions)
Width: 1.0 in
Weight: 15.0 oz
Capacity: 10+1 Rounds

Glock 26
Caliber: 9mm
Barrel: 3.46 in
Length: 6.29 in
Height: 4.17 in
Width: 1.18 in
Weight: 19.75 oz w/o magazine
Capacity: 10+1 Rounds

Taurus Millennium G2 PT111
Caliber: 9mm
Barrel: 3.28 in
Length: 6.24 in
Height: 5.1 in
Width: 1.22 in
Weight: 22.0 oz
Capacity: 12+1 Rounds

If you are looking for very light why are you requiring a double stacked magazine? There are many high quality lighter 9mms handguns available with a single stacked magazine. As quickly matter if fact, the Kel-Tec PF9 has a better trigger than the P-11 and it's lighter and thinner too.

If you remove the double stacked requirement I would look at the Kahr PM9, the S&W Shield, the above mentioned Kel-Tec PF-9 and maybe the Sig P938 too.

Kel Tec (& maybe the SCYY copies) win the lightest categories among handguns, & are among the smallest as well. P-11 double stack 9mm, PF-9 single stack 9mm, P3AT .380acp pocket pistol, P-32 .32acp pocket pistol. They have their limitations and drawbacks, but they can be reliable, no frills pistols.

I have or have had all the above models. I sold my PF9 & use the S&W Shield instead, & also pocket carry the Kahr CM9. I have the Glock 26 & the XD subcompact; the P11 is much lighter than either.

Here it is again... smaller 9mm semi-autos

I'm sorry but I have to say it, that Walther looks like it was in a gun store that burned down and the P99 barely sort of survived. Did you store it in the oven and half way cook dinner before you remembered where it was?

It is like the Darkman of the gun world.

Are you unfamiliar with Talon rubber grips? Excellent addition to most any polymer gun. I highly recommend them.

My mistake. From my phone it literally looked like the absolute worst stippling job I had ever seen.

Different strokes I guess. I like the way they look and most importantly feel. Maybe the pic doesn't do it justice but either way all that matters is that I'm happy with them. Actually recommended them to a few others who were also very happy with them. Def wouldn't feel comfortable taking a soldering iron to it myself though that's for sure.

If you are looking for very light why are you requiring a double stacked magazine?

I have seen too many videos where personal defense shootings involve more than 5 or 6 rounds and prefer to carry 10 +1 with a 15 round backup magazine.

So, he's already got the lightest double stack 9mm.

I guess so. I guess I can keep it and just deal with the trigger.

improperly aged-How long have you had your Kel-Tec? How much have you shot it? I used to own & carry a P-11. I no longer have it but it worked well enough for its intended purpose. The trigger did take some getting used to. If I tried to stage it I would get messed up. If I just pulled through until the break it worked better for me.
I currently carry a Taurus PT-111 Millenium G2. It works well although it does have its own trigger quirks. I gave the Kel-Tec P-11 I had away. A buddy of mine wanted a carry piece. I took him out & let him shoot one day. I let him shoot a Springfield XD, Ruger SR 1911, Ruger P94, The Taurus, a Dan Wesson revolver & the Kel-Tec. Believe it or not out of everything I let him shoot he shot the P-11 best. He offered to buy it on the spot. I didn't sell it that day but later when his birthday was coming up I got to thinking I really wasn't using it anyway & it isn't really a high dollar piece so I just gave it to him. He seemed pretty happy about it.
