What has happened to THR

Another thing I have noticed is that there is no more "post count" listed with out names. Was the new software incapable of handling that?

Never mind. Like someone else said elsewhere, the white background was hard on the eyes. I saw where they said use the "THR test" and that is definately easier on the eyes. Switching to that also brought the post count back.

Sneaky!!

Stealth technology at its best. :)

What’s the deal with the trophies and points? Is there a purpose for them?

I, and I suspect some of my fellow geezers, would appreciate a little larger text and darker for the stuff at the bottom of each post (Posting date and #.) I’m getting a callus on my nose from rubbing on the screen trying to read them. Okay disregard. The test format is great.

Another thing that seems to be missing: the "mark forum read" button.

It "un-highlights" all current threads so only threads with new content since my last visit are highlighted.

It makes it easier to tell where I've read previously, and what's new.

Thank you. On mine it was hidden under the "..."

Only I'm sure I looked there a few days ago too.

That was the only real hang-up I'd noticed. Thanks.

Should have left well enough alone. I believe these changes will lose some older members and I personally don't see anything to attract new members.

Such is life it seems.

Why would the changes drive away older members?

The fact that Google will now index this site -- that it will recommend this site when people search using Google is about the single best way I can think of to attract new members...

The new format does not show poster's "posting count" and "member since" like the old forum did unless I click to show them. Those are valuable information when reading postings.

I like the direction the site has taken over the past few days. Its starting to feel more like it should. I cant say exactly what has been done to make it more palatable to me, but whatever it is, I like it!

I am certain I count as a "older member" and am not going away. Over a background change?
One thing I don't like though is when I go to my content there is no more my started
threads or my posts. They are all listed together. Is there a way to separate them?

Jim

Go to your profile
click on posting
this is the list to which you refer

NOW, go all the way to the bottm of that page and there is a button to show started threads !

You are welcome

I think mostly you're getting used to it. Just takes a few days to look famlier again.

OK I got it. Since you already posted you are welcome I better post thanks:thumbup:

I'd sure like to see the arrow (hyperlink) that allowed a viewer to go directly to the last thread post come back.

EDIT < Well apparently the time listing, just below the last poster's name, is now a hyperlink to the last thread post, which is a feature that wasn't working before for me. >

Thanks,
Bullseye

I know you admins have put a ton of work into the site, many thanks. Job well done.
Wasn't sure I liked it, but it's not bad at all.
I don't post much here, but I do read. After the initial shock of seeing the changes and not liking them, I've changed my thinking. The site is better on mobile, the buttons are right there. The site appears to be much easier to use.
Don't care for the ratings system, but, whatever. No problem.
The one thing I do not like at all is the "like" button addition. This encourages lack of dialogue, and a "me too" response to posts.
Just my .02, overall, well done.

Most everybody in their formative years, computer wise, will really appreciate this new format. I like the old one and also like The Firing Line set-up. I bounce back and forth between the two. I think the bouncing may go more one way now.

Love the new format.

Thanks, Derek.

+1. I found myself visiting THR less and less in recent memory due to a couple reasons. One being the forum software was so wildly outdated that it lacked basic features that are just a given these days one forums. Xenforo addresses those features and much more. Thank you so much for the migration! Having dealt with these kind of transitions, I know they can be headache, so I can truly appreciate the work load.
