How would a revolver do with a Youtube MAC Channel style reliability test

Probably poorly. Get some mud in the cylinder and the gun will probably freeze up.

Memory is a bit vague, but back in the 1980s when the US Military were evaluating semi-autos to replace the 1911 they also included Smith model 10s in the initial testing as well as 1911s as reference points. The revolvers did do well when subjected to mud.

I dont own a revolver that I dislike enough to find out.

It might be possible to get enough mud into the cylinder in front of the bullet to plug it and have a kaboom. Beyond that, I suspect that a revolver would do very well.

Unlike autos, revolvers have several open areas where debris would get in & completely stop the gun's function quickly. Such a test would be meaningless.

Revolvers have been torture tested since about 1836. Been used in a lot of wars since then in all climates all over the world. They work just fine.

How about firing 1000 rounds from inside a coat pocket?

Revolver owners respect their weapons, and wouldn't think of doing something like that!

Brits used the .455 Webleys in the mud of the Flanders in WW1 and the desert sands of Tunisia in WW2. They had no problems.

Why? They kept their guns clean and used flap holsters.

Now folks, since when have you dropped your gun in the mud and didn't clean it off? Or drop it off in -20 degrees for a week? Or drop it off a helicopter onto pavement? Or for that matter fire 500 rounds without cleaning?

Now yes, the Glock come out on top AND I pack a Glock. But I am not hugely worried about such test and they do not sway me as to what is the 'best' for me.

It's a whole lot easier to toss around a mass produced hunk of molded plastic than it is a fine tuned piece of blued steel. I cringe at the thought of a torture test with anything higher quality than an armscorp 206. That said, I suspect mud in the ratcheting system to be the failure by preventing the hand from protruding out to catch the star and rotate the cylinder.
