I'm reloading some once fired PPU brass, and I'm getting this small lip right at the mouth of the case. It's very small, but i'm worried it might crimp the bullet in the mouth when chambered. I'm using a Lee hand press and Lee pacesetter resizing die. You can't see it in the picture, but the lip looks like a burr that got smushed over when it ran through the die. It's just substantial enough that you can catch your fingernail on it (see pic) Trimming and chamfering doesnt quite take it off all the way. I've tried adjusting the decapping pin/sizing ball up and down in the collet, and adjusting the install height of the die in the hand press with no change. Why might this be happening, and should i be worried about it?

I am also using PPU brass and Lee dies for my 6.5 Swede. I have not seen this happen with either my full length sizing die or my collet neck sizing die. My experience is pretty limited as I've only ran 100 pieces of brass through the dies 2-3 times at this point and I can't offer advice on what the issue may be. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for the answer though.

I guess I would check the trim length and make sure you are not too long. Being too long could also effect the head space if the round is being pushed back enough to create a ring at the end of the case. Trim is measured after sizing. Sizing will make the round longer. Measure a fired round for OAL. Then measure a sized round. The best way is to measure the head space if you have the tools to do that. If head space is still good you may have a die issue but I find that hard to see.

I had some do that too with PPU brass. Not 6.5 Swede, but 243 Win, they were tight in the chamber due to that ring at the mouth. I wondered if the factory crimp caused the brass to harden. I reloaded them 1X using a Lee FCD and that took it out. The couple I tested after the FCD chamber OK and I shot a couple with no extra pressure noticed. I will anneal them next time around to see if it goes away.

Have those cases been chamfered and deburred?
If you can feel a "lip", deburring should remove it.
The pictured cases were fresh out of the resizing die. Pre deburr and chamfering, but deburring and chamfering did not completely remove it, at least with the Lee chamfer and deburring tool. Maybe a better tool would do better...
