I have a scope that I'd like to send in due to chromatic aberration and questionable resolution and I'm wondering how long I should plan to be separated from it.

Has anybody used Leupold's great service recently? How long did it take?

i have used leupold,s repair service several times over the years and have been satisified. it may be that at different times(hunting seasons or right after them) it may take awhile longer. i just had a older(30-35 years old) m-8-3x replaced by a new one from the custom shop. eastbank

According to a big box retail store, Its taking them awhile, And they are iffy when it comes to its covered or you pay for it, One guy got his scope back with a deep scratch in the tube and scope was still broke, Changed my mind about buying one, Problem was reticles wouldn't move on both scopes

I got one back last week that was gone just over 3 weeks. A airline horror story, in which the airline did nothing, but Leupold came to the rescue and had the scope fixed and turned around very quickly.

During the summer I had the reticle changed in a scope and it was gone less than 3 weeks from the time I mailed it until I got it back. I paid for the postage when I shipped the scope and they paid return postage. Go online and fill out their customer information page before you mail the scope to them so they will already have your information on file when they receive your scope. I would also include a letter with the scope telling them exactly what is wrong.

I find the box stores story mildly unusual. Leupold repaired a scope I broke by falling on it. replaced damaged parts and did a full systems check. No cost to me.

I sent the scope back because it wasnt holding zero, issue ended up being (and i found it while the acope was gone) the fall cracked one of the rings near the base, just enough that it would wiggle.

Leupold puts out very, very few lemons.

The "big box" store employee's story is baloney, told to you by someone who has never dealt with Leopold's customer service. Leupold service is second to none.

This I agree with. I've sent quite a few scopes to Leopold and they've always fixed them for free. I've never had them try to charge me for repairing anything. Although I have had to send a couple back a second time.

This I don't agree with. I've had more failures with Leopold scopes than I have with any other single brand. They do have heat customer service though.

Interesting, ive only had couple. Almost everyone i hunt with uses them, never heard of more than an issues or two....ive also only had 2 scopes fail myself, both due to bad falls or drops, and have only heard of a few more that wernt in the $50 class. So my sample pool is probably on the small side.

Just had a Leupold VX-3 4.5-14 fail 2 weeks ago. bullets all over the paper wouldn't adjust.fine a week before. Its back at Leupold now.Leupolds are good scopes but they do have tracking issues
