Don't know if this has been discussed but Mossberg is now offering AOWs based on their 590A1 and 500 pump action shotguns.

Probably tired of Mark Serbu making money on something they could pull some cash in with.

Really liking where a lot of mainstream firearm companies are going by introducing NFA items on their own.

I have always wondered why they didn't do this. 2+1 and 3+1 still seems odd though. They should incorporate the box magazine into this and give 10+1 capability.

At one point they've made an SBS model (NFA regulated) with a 14" barrel for the LEO market. Considering the popularity of the Super Shorty and many knock-offs, an AOW version sort of makes sense. I've got one of the Serbu models and is fun for what it is.

I generally prefer the 590 to the 870 but when they are this short the ability to float an extra shell on the carrier becomes very significant.

Late to the game, as WestKentucky said, having the box mags incorporated is becoming the popular option.

I'm kind of surprised since after Shockwave came out with the 14" barrel "not a shotgun" and people were buying the kits from Mossberg they yanked them for civilian sales. Figured they were pulling a Bill Ruger attitude.

Regarding box magazines, you don't have to wait for a stamp with these guys. I think they still sell kits as well.

However, I have not found a lot out on the internet about how reliable the conversion from a factory Mossberg/Remington are yet. Also seen virgin aftermarket receivers being sold (some set up for box magazines, some not) so you can legally build your pistol using self modified parts from a regular shotgun.

Any of you three gun guys seeing box magazine conversions, in anything but a Saiga style rifle, being run successfully??

I like the guns, but $900 MSRP? Give me a break. It's a $300-400 gun in Title 1 configuration. Why do I have to pay twice the price for half the gun?

You might like the Typhoon 12 AOW. It feeds from a box magazine.

Dunno. Though it is in the same zone as the going rate of a Super Shorty these days.

Like MenaceMan47, the second NFA item I bought was a 14" AOW 590A1. I bought it about 5 years ago, NIB with no grip for about $525 after shipping, tax stamp and transfer. I used to see them all the time on GB (still do but not as cheap) and it always surprised me they where never more popular. Awesome gun, love it.
