What are your gun related goals for 2017?

I think this year I'm going to tweak what I have (62 guns) and focus more on my private range improvement.

Last year I finally put in my 800 yard berm, but I need to get some more steel targets and stands for my rifle shooting. I also want to finish modding my Ruger RPR and hopefully shoot out the barrel so I can add re-barreling it, and developing a load to 2018's list.

2017 looks to be a "clean up year" for me. As far as firearms go I have more than enough to cover my needs, anything from here on out is a want.

I plan to get some glass for my AR and upgrade the glass on a couple of other rifles. I have an AR I'm working on for my daughter's college graduation that I intend to finish, plus a couple of project guns to work on. You know the type, the ones that have been sitting in the back of the gun cabinet for years and will cost more than they are worth by the time I'm done fixing them up.

Also plan to add a bit to the ammo stash, plus I'm going to work up a load for the daughter's new .270 and load up a few years supply of hunting ammo for her. Hopefully I will get a chance to teach her to load her own, but between work and college she's pretty busy right now.

Restart league Trap shooting after 33 years, find a BT-99 or Superposed for that, find a PitBull .45ACP, or 325, and get more reloading done.

Join a gun club and shoot and become proficient with the guns I have instead of buying more that I don't shoot. I also want to attend a Project Appleseed event.

For 2017
I would like to try a new shooting discipline. Maybe IDPA or sass or csa.
I miss competition.
I would also like to start to improve the quality of my collection of guns.
Less quantity. More quality.
Get better with my flintlock. If you can shoot one of these well......everything else is cake.

I am going to purchase a handgun that holds 20 rounds, hides in the pocket watch pocket of my jeans, will kill and elephant at one mile, has a 1 pound trigger but is perfectly safe to juggle. This weapon will not only insure my safety and security on the violent adventure self defense incident of my fantasies, it will convert attractive women into shooting range enthusiasts.
This should be a requirement for everyone,.... a good sense of humor!

As soon as Ruger comes out with the new MK IV with a threaded bbl, it's mine.

Another vote for thinning the herd. Unbelievably, I have no burning wants and a lot of excesses of inventory. Working in a gun shop put me in the position of getting first crack at a lot of "it would be nice to have" stuff that never got used.
Goals are to get my trap scores back in the high 90s, shoot my CCW guns more (practice), and to develop more good cast bullet loads for my 223, 308, and 44 rifles.
And get rid of surplus loaders, dies, muzzle loaders, and guns I will never use that are not from family.

I think I want to shoot up what I have supplies left to reload with on the shelf, my bullets and powder, shoot and reload till it's gone, and sell off my reloading equipment. I'll never shoot all this stuff, even if I live to be 80. ( which I won't )
I think I'd rather save my eyesight for shooting rather than reloading from here out. But It will take more than 2017 to accomplish this. I just have to stop buying bullets and scrounging up range brass!

Looking to get a simple 22 to teach the wife how to shoot and a Sig P220 Carry SAS for me - happy holidays to all.

Thin the herd some, and shoot what I have more. No need to keep stock piling ammo and not shooting very much. It is actually really nice to be able to shoot 22 lr again, and know I can replace what I shoot.

Maintaining and improving skills on the guns I shoot, rather than adding more guns.

Don't wanna add much, just a M1 Carbine to go with my Garand
That's it addition wise
Others include: finish my AR build (upper first, then work on the lower), reload more than I can shoot, complete the move (again), get back in to IDPA now that I'll be closer to a club that offers it, shoot more trap/skeet, and send my 9mm Range Officer back to Springfield to have an ambidextrous safety installed

Get more range time. I tend to get lazy and not go as often as I should.

Get back to reloading 9, 40, 45 as my stock has dwindled a bit. Have plenty of factory but it is more fun to shoot the reloads as I take pride in them. I have the FN-15 settled down with all mods complete and get to being more efficient with it. Most of the last 90 days has been tweaking the FN-15 and learning from it.

Get action range certified at my local gun range. Already passed the safety and marksmanship portion but was ill on the certification day. Want to have a lot more practice moving and shooting, shooting from various positions behind various barriers, drawing and shooting. Hone my long range rifle marksmanship to 300 yards with a .270 Win cartridge, which will require me to purchase another gun ;)!

I'd like to finally spring for CT laser grips for my defense purposed Commander. That will be the final step in a series of improvements (all of which I have smithed myself)

I am retiring so I doubt there will be any new buys. I really have quite enough. Plan to get to the range more, reload more, and inventory my stuff.

I retired this past April so I got a head start on my gun related goals list. I already get to the range more, reload more, and shoot more. For 2017 I've got a new CZ .22 bolt gun on order from the LGS. Plan to hunt more often and am re-stocking my Kimber sporterized Swedish Mauser with a new Bell & Carlson synthetic stock with a full length aluminum bedding block to replace the old Ram-Line injection molded plastic stock. I just can't understand how some people get bored with their life after they retire.
