hey all, I'm looking to make a good choice on a carry gun.I would like to hear your input, and options I didn't think of . I have a few conditions, preferences, don't we all! First and foremost , it has to be dependable as hell ! I'd like to stick to a 9mm, i have lots of ammo, why try and get rid of it!
I do not care for plastic guns, nor striker fired ! I have handled quite a few handguns at the local shop , but find it hard to find one that fits me well.I have a few medical issues, one being Parkinson's
which causes me fits ! i am usually a revolver kind of guy, but trying to reload if needed , is almost impossible.Anyway,I have short stubby fingers , so to have trigger and shot control, a single stack is almost a must have.
Cost is also a consideration, i have a trade , my current carry piece is a daewoo, the only issue i have is the grip, it's a damn fine gun , and swallows any ammo i feed it , but as things progress , i may not be able to use it if needed , so all metal, single stack 9mm, older or newer , what are my options, maybe there is one i haven't thought of yet !

A Sig 225 isn't the slimmest single stack but would be a good choice.
A HK P7 would be great, but they're hard to find and getting expensive.
A light weight commander sized 9mm 1911 might be a very good choice. Ruger is making an affordable one right now.
The Sig 938 might be the best deep carry option I can think of.

I think a CZ RAMI would be a very good choice, it's a double stack, but very thin. The DA trigger has a bit of a long reach, but if you find a model with a safety, the SA is great and easy to reach.

Do you prefer DA/SA, decockers, safeties?

i didn't know Ruger was making a commander sized 1911, i'll have to look one up, the other firearms i'll have to look at also ! I prefer a sa, but a good da/sa would be acceptable as long as the trigger reach was short

I'll second gotboostvr's suggestion of a Sig P938. Lightweight, easy to carry, comes with tritium sights, can carry in condition 1, shoots well. I've got one in my pocket as I type. Controls are like a mini-1911, minus the grip safety.

If you're ok with a DA but might need a shorter pull, the new Sig 225's come with Sig's SRT (short reset trigger) and CZ's can be tuned similarly with parts from Cajun gun works.

I would think the 938 would be ideal. I want one. I am not spending $700+ for yet another small 9mm. Magazines aren't cheap either. Cost may be the problem with a 938 for you.

I think the springfield EMP meets all of your requirements except maybe cost. it's likely not cheap.

thanks guys! so far i am leaning towards the 9mm 1911, i see ria, iver johnsonon the low cost end , and kimber, springfield , dan wesson on the upper end , i do know that at this point i'd have to order it no matter which one i chose. Anyone else with ideas, please? i'm trying to make this my wisest choice

IMO there should be a glock 19 in every inventory. Nothing too fancy but the most popular 9mm in the world
for a good reason.
They are not made of plastic but zytel polymer that is several times stronger than aluminum.
but if you like something more classic they have them in metal frames too.

great input , the double stack , won't fit my hand well, and though i respect glocks for what they are , i have shot a few , i am not enamored of striker fired handguns that part might just be me though

You might check out the Sig 239 with SRT. It is a little larger than some of the other single stack 9mm but still has a fairly small grip. I have large hands and that is why I got rid of it.
