Guys I've gotten fat. :(

Those late night brewskies and cheetos have finally caught up with yours truly! Not only that, but I've switched my carry rig to a larger pistol and also plan to add an IWB magazine carrying system to my loadout soon. So my Beltman bullhide gun belt has no more room, and there's not enough tab on the belt to drill more holes in it!

Needless to say, it's time for a new belt. But guys, I'm just not sure of all my options. I do know that I want a leather belt with a normal style buckle. It must be 1.5" (4cm) wide as all my holsters are made for that thickness. I'd like a black one with either a silver colored buckle (chrome, nickel, stainless steel etc.) or a black buckle. I need something of quality leather that will hold up to about a 40oz gun comfortably, yet perhaps not be too thick. I mainly CCW my Makarov PM.

So guys what do you recommend in the world of gun belts? Thank you kindly! :)

I spent a couple years looking, buying, and returning belts, and finally found Lenwood Leather (http://www.lenwood.com/). I have a Lenwood Hybrid that is perfect for my 1911, IWB.

Midway carries there product line. Give one a try; I don't think you can do better for a classy leather dress/gun belt.

I'd think the good ones are all pretty much the same. I'd suspect The Beltman you have is one of the good ones, and I'd just get another, unless you just want to try another maker.

I like my gun belt from alien gear.

I did some research on the Alien Gear belts and it appears they're made by Bigfoot belts. Upon checking the specs and reviews, it appears that they're basically the same thing as a Beltman but at half the cost. I checked Beltman's website and they're still selling their $80 belts.

So I noticed Alien Gear was giving a $15 discount if you buy a holster form them as well. I had an Alien Gear holster for my Bersa Thunder (junk gun, got rid of it) but thought I'd go ahead and take advantage of the discount and also buy a new Cloak Tuck for my Makarov. So right now I have the holster and belt coming all for less than $100.

Hopefully it's a good one! Now all I need to do is decide on an IWB double magazine pouch...

OWB pouches are plenty discrete and they are squarish just like a phone or knife case if anyone should happen to see that bottom 1-1/2" sticking out from under your shirt tail.

There's a good reason IWB mag pouches are so uncommon. There just isn't a worthwhile trade off to stuffing more boxy steel and leather junk inside your waistband. I spent the money for mine and used it about once. Nice Milt Sparks unit, too. Cost a fair bit.

Worthless.

Even my Blackhawk OWB 1911 mag carrier isn't that obtrusive under a cover shirt. I have an DeSantis IWB pouch for my PT145s mags that I hate, and a Remora that works much better as an in-the pocket mag pouch for both the PT145 and 1911 mags.

Thanks, all. I might well reconsider getting an IWB magazine pouch! I didn't know they were so awful!

Ditto. Take a look round at guys next time you go shopping. You will see all sorts of pouches and cell phone cases hanging on their belts.

Currently I am using a full flap black nylon carrying case intended for a Mini-mag flashlight to carry a spare magazine for my SIG P-239. The flap is held shut by velcro is there is no chance of it accidently falling out. It is slow to draw the magazine from but that is acceptable to me as a civilian.

Your question is somewhat timely. As I have previously commented in other I am in the process of acquiring the gear I need to conceal carry a Beretta 92. I have a holster and still need a new, stronger belt and a spare magazine pouch. This morning I remembered I had a leather pouch stashed away in my box of unused holsters and other castoff leather items. I dug it out and a Beretta double stack magazine fits snuggly in it. Actually it fits just a little to tight so I am going to dampen the inside of the pouch with water, wrap a magazine in Saran and insert it in the pouch until the pouch is dry. With the Saran wrap is removed the magazine should have a custom fit. The pouch has a full flap and looks just like it is carrying a multi-tool.

A strong gun belt is going to be a bit of a challenge as I like conchos. I may end up buying a plain belt and add conchos myself. However that rules out a belt with a metal stiffer as I will not be able to punch holes through it.

Am I the only one wearing Uncle Mikes Tactical Instructors belt?

It is a nylon belt with an wide adjustment range.

It doubles as a safety belt in an emergency. I like that because I am a farmer and a volunteer firefighter. I never know when I might need a safety line.

Less than $30 on Amazon.com.

Well guys I got the Alien Gear belt in today.

Frankly, I'm not that thrilled with it.

It's thick, actually just thicker than my old Beltman belt, but somehow it's much flimsier. Comparing it to even my 4 year old Beltman, no contest, the Beltman was far more sturdy. The Beltman will literally almost stick straight out if you hold the belt up, this one does not, it dangles like a noodle. It is also much easier to flex down the middle.

Guys I can't say this was the best choice. I am going to try and return it for a refund and if they won't take it back, I'll sell it on ebay I guess.

Nothing wrong with BullhideBelts, I have a couple of theirs still and use them occasionally. But it's hard to beat a belt from Armour! Fantastic stuff, built to order, basically anything you want. I have three of Mike's belts and would recommend them without reservation.

A couple of things I find curious. Older ladies that dye their hair blue? Gun belts with more silver and gold Bling than a Pirate. But then there are may things I am behind on.:(:D

Cheer up Dog Soldier. Things are only going to get worse. The blue hair is going to purple and green.
