I bought my girlfriend a SIG P320 for Christmas which she used this past weekend for Predator Security & Defense's Fundamentals of Combat Pistol Course. Other than checking the sights and getting basic familiarity with the pistol, this was my gf's first major test with it. I might need to get her a smaller frame but overall she really likes it and and it ran perfectly during the 300+ round course. I used my P239 which has never hiccuped in thousands of rounds and the only issue I had was riding the slide stop due to shooting way more 1911s over the past six years. :p I want to give a shout out to an excellent group of trainers at PSD. They really focus on military applications and their experience and competence is evident from the get go, which is not surprising given their backgrounds as SEALs and Green Berets. They did a great job of passing on their knowledge and experience with excellent drills throughout the day presented in an enjoyable but intense way. I hoped I would learn a thing or two but came away with much more than that. We plan on attending more courses with them in the future, hopefully when it's warmer than 20°F. I plan on buying my own P320 for future courses.

Nice write up. I like the 239 a lot but in cold weather the frame seems to get really cold compared to plastic. Two good looking pistols.

MCMXI - What kid of rear sight do you have on the 239? It doesn't look anything like my factory sights on my 239. It looks like it might be difficult to snag that sight on a belt or holster when performing a one handed slide rack.

CTGunner, thanks. I wore gloves all day so didn't once think about how cold the P239 frame was but I get your point. :D My feet on the other hand were a different story. We were standing on snow and ice most of the day so I should have worn those fancy 400g Thinsulate Meindl boots I bought for elk hunting last year but had a brain fart leaving the house and put on boots designed for warmer weather.

It's a Heinie Straight Eight night sight ... and I've had no problems racking the slide using the rear sight. I've even jammed the slide into my thigh and chambered a round that way. Not something I'd want to do too often during training but it certainly works.
