Good News on the Horizon ?

Right now I don't think our problem is the politicians. It's the mass media. Without a doubt, it doesn't take no genius to get it, they are vehemently against the current administration and the gun owners it represents. There is no honest news in this country. It's all a joke.

If I were in Trump's shoes, I would spend my energy on economic growth, our tax structure, and immigration.

I'd appoint pro-2A Supreme Court justices and similarly fill the 100 federal judgeship vacancies, and let the courts handle most of the 2A issues instead of spending much political capital on 2A legislation.

We might see EOs allowing Korean rifles and our own surplus 1911s to be sold, and we might see restrictions on the import of Mosins and SKSs lifted. That would be relatively easy. And we will probably see a rollback of the ban on use of lead ammunition on federal property (effective in five years) that Obama gave us on the way out the door.

If we get concealed carry reciprocity or freely available suppressors, I'd say that is about as much as we can expect from federal legislation.

National reciprocity is the death blow to the antis. Write your Senators and Congressman.

I beg to differ. National reciprocity is DOA because of the Senate filibuster. NFA reform might have a chance if it goes through under budget reconciliation. But to be honest, I'm not optimistic about anything right now. Trump is spending his political capital on other things.

This video gives me some hope. Donald Trump JR is an avid gun owner and shooter not afraid to call out the BS gun laws.

Or Republicans can grow a pair like the Dems have when THEY run the senate: i.e. write the legislation, bring it to the floor, let a Democrat filibuster it, nuke it to cloture, pass it, and send it to Trump. Thank you very much, Harry Reid.

Nah, as far as I can tell, the Republican party is generally uninterested in the 2nd Amendment unless the Democrats bring it up. Prior statements suggest that Trump himself isn't particularly into the Second Amendment either except a matter of political convenience.

The biggest thing I see is the appointment of the new Supreme Court Justice. Neil Gorsuch is Scalia-like, which is fantastic. Thomas Hardiman certainly wouldn't be terrible either.

Trump is also curiously friendly towards Russia. I can see sanctions being lifted and Russian guns like the Saiga coming back in. And if Bill Clinton's VRA were lifted, we'd have a new golden age of milsurp.

Don Jr. is a shooter, as noted above. It remains to be seen how much influence he will have over Papa Trump.

Trump seems to be very "Buy American", so why would he allow foreign made guns to be imported??
(Maybe he would with a high enough tariff on them......)

Speculation but no real data. Let's wait and see what develops in Congress and with Executive Orders.
