Well the box said it's a P01 and that was good enough for me. I found out later that the CZ 75 D Compact was the European designation and they were probably filling an order for CZ USA with what they had on hand at the factory.
I also picked up a Kadet conversion kit to go with my P01 at the time because the sales clerk gave me such a huge discount on it I couldn't pass it up!

I haven't checked what my box was labeled as, all I know is Bud's had two listing. One for P01's and one for 75D compacts and the P01's sold out in less than a day so I took what I could get.
I forget, are all kadets compatible with full sizes and compacts? Either way it'll probably spend most it's time on my SA frame.

I believe they are compatible just not with the P07/P09 series. My Kadet assembly required a little fitting along the guide rails and frame but turned out fine.

Omaney, I've considered doing the same thing with one of those beat up CZ's.
That came out looking great. I'm considering doing one in a bit more wild paint scheme since it'll be a back-up range toy, but it's hard to go wrong with black.

bannockburn, what fitting did you do? My Kadet kit has worked well for years on my 75B, but I have never been able to get it mounted to my 75D (PCR). I'd hate to mess up the good thing I have going on the 75B, but I'd really like to use it on both frames...gotboostvr

The Kadet slide assembly was too tight to run evenly on the P01 frame so I did a little bit of judicious filing on both areas (as shown in the manual), to get it to work smoothly. Probably took less than 10 minutes to work on it.
The Kadet manual states: "To ensure correct functioning and high accuracy of fire, it is necessary to fit the CZ 75 Kadet adapter with minimal clearances in the guide rails in the pistol on which the adapter will be used." It then goes on to describe and show the areas where the filing is needed on the slide.

Aha. I remember reading that the Kadet may need fitting, but didn't realize that the manual actually provides guidance on where to file. For others also wanting to do this same, look at the 11th page of the PDF here (which is numbered page 24):

CZ Custom can provide you with a CZ 85 trigger that is not so curvy. It will solve your "problem"

I know the manual talks about the importance of proper fit on the rails, etc., but have never understood why... As the kit uppers assembly (which looks like a slide) doesn't move. Perhaps they mean it must fit into the frame properly and slide all the way back, etc. -- that I understand.
The insert in the slide moves (the bolt/slide equivalent) with each shot, but sights, barrel, and upper (which looks like a slide) are one unit stay aligned. Unless pressing the trigger pushes the firing pin block linkage and presses up on the underside of the upper assembly, and there is some play there (so that it doesn't push it exactly the same with each shot), accuracy shouldn't be greatly (if at all) affected.
The manual displayed in the link above appears to be for the 75/85 models. That probably doesn't matter, but I know from experience, that the Kadet Kits sold after the B models were introduced wouldn't work on some of the earlier pre-B models -- as the hammer on the pre-Bs were too wide to fit in the notch at the back of the Kadet Kit, and couldn't reach the firing pin!!
With an early pre-B, if you wanted a .22 conversion kit you had to find a Kadet Kit made for the early pre-Bs! Sort of like hen's teeth. I think I only saw once advertised for sale over many, many years of searching.
(I eventually sold that pre-B, but had others. I think the one I sold may have been one of the much sought-after short-rail models, but I didn't know enough about CZs back then to know it may have been that type.).

AHA! I knew I'd seen a steel frame Compact with a decocker back in the day! I sold one when working at a local gunshop/range, but then CZ-USA said they never made such a gun....NOW I know what it was!

One of the participants on the old CZ Forum, back when I was one of the moderators, also had an alloy-framed Compact (i.e., safety, not decocker) -- which I would have loved to own. That is also very rare. I think that M. Bott, a moderator there at the time, also had a semi-compact: fullsized frame with a compact slide -- which he bought new from a LGS.Armoredman said:
