I recently obtained a hand guard that did not have the standard Barrel nut, it is like shown here:

The supplied wrench is a flimsy thin affair, and has no option to attach torque wrench. Supplier indicates it will get it sufficiently tight... Being paranoid about things like this, A ordered a set of crowsfoot wrenches with a 1/2 drive hole to fit my torque wrench.
Darn it, the crowsfoot wrench is too wide to fit in the provided slots. Figuring an adjustable wrench would be better, I found one that opens to a max of 1 1/8ths inch, and was still thin enough to fit the slots on the barrel nut.
I tightened it, loosened it, repeat, and then snugged it up as good as can be with a wrench only 8 1/2 inches long, but tighter than the little punched wrench that came with it.
Of course I am nervous about things like this, I like things like this torqued...typically 30 lbs, back off, 30 lbs, back off then to 30 lbs + what ever it takes to align the gas tube, usually 40-50 lbs or so, closer to 40.
I am over analyzing this, or is my worry well founded? (yes, proper stuff on barrel nut threads and so forth...)
I have another set of crowsfoot wrenches on the way, hopefully they will fit...
