re the 4th U.S.Circuit Court Firearms ruling
Looking at the above referenced, such is necessary, as it appears that gun rights, at least in the areas where this court holds sway, are in trouble, possibly quite serious trouble. Of course, The USSC toss this decision however the USSC seems determined to duck gun rights cases these days, which brings gun owners to the following, looking to The Congress to toss the courts ruling/decision.

With that in mind, it strikes me that the following needs to be done by gun owners. They need to get on to their elected representatives, Senators and Members of The House, pointing out the falicies in the courts ruling, stressing the need for the congress to legislate the 4th Circuit Court's ruling away. Such action, of course, requires work and effort from gun owners, a group of individuals who do not always seem disposed to defend their rights, I don't know why. Personally, I have already done what I have recommend, and will continue to do what I can. The rest of it is in the hands of my fellow gun owners.

SCOTUS won't want to deal with 2A cases until there's a full bench.

Our best security comes from legislation protecting the 2A backed with a sound SCOUTS case in our favor.

Making our Congresscritters move on legislation in our favor is something we can do that is vitally important.

Getting the right case before SCOTUS will be vitally important as well and this might be a good one for a full bench at SCOTUS to rule on.

There is very little the average guy can do to move these things along. If you feel the need to "help" contribute to organizations that are fighting the good fight. The legal system works at a glacial pace.

If I may, may I disagree with your observation about how little "average guy" can do, as it is this "average guy" who votes, not always wisely. Financial support of one's favorite pro gun, pro gun rights organization is fine, but do not forget who it is that votes, or as it might be, doesn't. Also, do not forget who it is that contacts and maintains contact, or doesn't, with their employees, aka elected representatives, elected things or however you might choose to describe them. It is the "average guy" that you seem to dismiss, who sometimes might well deserve dismissal, who could perhaps be awakened. Who knows, it might be worth the effort, though the picture found is often disheartening.

In the case of a tie in the Supreme Court, the lower court stands. Strategic delay may be warranted. Demographically there is a very high likelihood of another vacancy in the next 2-3 years.

Of course, your comments might well be on point. That said, I would rather not be the one whose task it was to sell that aspect of things to citizens who were being, politely put, dealt a shoddy hand.

There is very little the average guy can do to move these things along. ... contribute to organizations that are fighting the good fight.

Correct in both points.

It is important not to stay the "average guy". Get off the couch. Actually get involved. Become a known presence to your elected officials. Educate yourselves on how to take our message to "them" and then actually do the work. Join organizations that are actually trying to have an impact, they need bodies just like political campaigns do. Join a political campaign and work to make our side stronger. There are exceptional people working to sway the position of politicians on the 2A, but they all started by making the exceptional decision to get up off their butts and put some effort into it instead of waiting for someone to give them handouts of their cause.

It appears that you have hit the proverbial nail on it's head. Mr.,Mrs., and Ms., supporting the organization of your choice is fine and dandy. Push coming to shove, it is your rights that are at risk, and in the last analysis, it's up to you to defend them or loose them. Remember one thing. It is a whole lot easier to defend one's rights than it is to regain rights once they are lost. That said, insider the following. You have no doubt heard the following, "the NRA won't let them do that". Re that, who is the NRA? By the way, re "the NRA won't let them do that", how is it that the law abiding are saddeled with legislative garbage exampled by, for example The National Firearms Act of 1934, The Gun Control Act of 1968 and it's amendments, and The Hughes Amendment, and last but far from least, the endless garbage visited on the law abiding by those wonderful types down at the ATF, The BATFE, for those who prefer a more formal form of address, go mention just a few flies in the ointment. At the risk of wearing out such welcome as I might have, when was the last time that people reading the foregoing contacted their elected representatives about anything of concern to them?
