The RUGER OLD ARMY Club

Picked up a new (to me) Old Army today with aftermarket grips.

I would like to add a 5.5" to my collection. I have not found one in years. They are asking over $1,000 bucks for that model on the gun broker.

I will Dog Soldier. I also have a 7 /12 model too, so it be interesting to see how this one compares. If this gun was unused, I likely wouldn't fire it due to the collector value, but it has been shot in the past. What's interesting is that the loading lever can't be removed with the catch at the front of the barrel, but unlike my 5 1/2 Pietta Remington, the Ruger catch easily unscrews for removal allowing the loading lever to slide right out.

I have 11 ROA revolvers. I would like to find a reasonably priced 5.5" like yours. I have some fired and some used. I just missed a 7.5" SS unfired in the box last weekend.

I only have two of them, and as I mentioned before if this 5.5 was in mint condition, I wouldn't shoot it, but it has been fired a number of times in the past and I got it for a really good price so I feel no qualms about shooting it.

Bishop Creek -those are pretty grips and it has nice contrast with the bright polish ROA.

BullSlinger, Both of those price references from yesterday were from actual sales. I think it's because most folks don't want to give up their 5.5 ROAs but with enough money on the table, some folks reconsider how bad they really need it.
It is not likely that they will ever be produced again and there isn't anything really comparable out there in production.

I would never spend that kind of money. I wish I could go back in time and invest in a few of those.

Picked up a nice pair of ROA's with 5.5" barrels for $1,700 last year. I knew that the price was high but hard to find pair in great condition. I intended to sell my pair of 7.5" SS with adjustable sights but I have real trouble selling things I love. The image for avatar is a 5.5 at a Jimmy Buffet shoot last summer. Sometimes I just close my eyes and let it fly.
