Walker Loading Lever Keeper?

Not a spring, it was two metal cylinders joined together that slid over the end of the barrel and loading lever to keep the latter from dropping. The upper cylinder had a cutout for the front sight.
Is rawhide the user's name or a suggestion for a period-correct solution?

What Honest John suggested. Two copper cylinders (bigger one open on top for the front sight) silver soldered together.

The only period-correct items in my Walker kit are the caps, balls, and gun. If I can't get another loading lever keeper, I'm likely to try small rubber bands!

so does it work??

Stayed up for him with Round Ball but fell with Conicals. Gonna go with YMMV on this one.

Good pic of the mod from the Walker Thread:

Mine used to drop the lever every time with any load above 40gr. After about ten minutes with a file it no longer drops even with 60gr charges.
