Are there .875 Gas Blocks that are truly "lo-pro"?

Hello to all; got myself in a build-pickle. Acquired a BCA 24 in bull barrel in .223 Wylde in .875. Purchased the Midwest Industries Gen3 slimline 18 in guard -as it was the first commercially available guards at that length (to my knowledge at least). Goal was to run adjustable block - for the purpose of running multiple ammo loads.

Long story short it looks as though Im out of luck as far as adjustable blocks go-as my guards ID is 1.30 ". Even std blocks are few and far with that od.

Here's my [very likely stupid] question: Would it be feasible to turn down the barrel to .750 at the gas journal, or am I eventually relegated to a new guard or new .750 barrel?

Thanks in advance, I respect this site's viewpoints (enough to finally come out the shadows lol).

I would try to email ADCO and see if they can do it. They reprofile barrels, but not sure about this. They have a lot of good feedback on various forums, but I have not personally used.

I'm not a big AR guy but wouldn't you have to get the barrel turned down to that diameter from the muzzle to the gas port to slide it on?

Once again not an expert but you might be able to have a block made... There doesn't seem to be any magical tachnology in a gas block

Wouldn't it be less expensive to just get a hand guard with a large enough ID? I definitely prefer a slim hand guard, but not at the expense of being forced to a barrel I don't want. Just how adjustable will that gas block be under 18" of hand guard?

Who is ADCO and how would I get in contact with them?

That seems to be the most logical option- only got this guard as it was only 18 in length guard available. I could have barrel cut to 20 and seek out a 15-17 inch option with increased id.

Why would you need to cut the barrel? I like a 15" hand guard on a 16-18 inch barrel mostly for looks, I can't see a lot of real reasons beyond mounting a bi-pod as far forward as practical for anything much longer than the "rifle" length hand guard. Basically putting the bi-pod that far forward effectively shortens it a bit at the expense of making the gun even more "front heavy".

ADCO is a well respected gunsmith located in Ohio i believe. They specialize in AR15 pattern rifles and have a lot of good feedback on other forums such as ar15.com. They have a thread under the "industry forum" on that site where you can check feedback and ask questions. Here is a link to their website https://adcofirearms.com/contact/ . You can contact them on the form and ask any questions you have. You basically just pay for whatever service you want online and ship the barrel to them, they do the work and ship back. Pretty fast turn around times

Post up some pictures of your rig. Never know what some clever folk on here might come up with.

.
Said rig is in pieces awaiting solution to this dilemma. I purchase pieces only when I can get good deals (Father's Day sales, Black Friday) and am about to build out this [truly] long rifle ... once I get the logistics of this gas block resolved.
Interestingly enough Midwest Industries doesn't have any suggestions concerning adjustable blocks for any of their Gen3 series. Andy-a very helpful tech there, suggests recoil compensation via the back end. My experience -military in origin- suggests otherwise.. at least regarding this build.

Seems my entire crisis of block dimensions was of my own lack of oversight.
The Gen 3 18 inch SPR guard I purchased has an ID of 1.75", and therefore any lo-pro adjustable block would fit off my .875 24" BB.
B4 I realized this I took advantage of Memorial Sale and picked up 20 in Ballistic Advantage DMR in .750... meaning now u can build TWO Mk12 hybrids.
...when you deal yourself lemons, why not make lemonade LOL

Look at your gas block really closely and see how much obstruction you have. It might be ok to just grind off some material with a dremel to fit it. Or the handguard. Or maybe get a cheepo non adjustable gas block and try it first if you really like the slimline long handguard.

Bought a Seekins- set screw type (kinda fits the cheapo category )
