Digging around that collectors site, I'm almost seeing the hated Pietta grip tail flare on some of those Colts. That fully fluted 1860 above has somewhat of flare on the heal of it's grip.

Here's the second gen Colt version of the of the 1860 including a facsimile US inspector cartouche in the grip. This came out of the two gun set shown in second picture

Here's a 2nd gen version of the London set sort of.---one Navy has a square back and one has a round trigger guard. These are serial number matched Navies out of the Colt RE Lee and US Grant cased sets. Colt made 250 double sets and I had one back in the early 70's but sold it. This set was recreated with one of Bill Shumate's cases.

I had a brass plate engraved for it. The original Colt set had US Grant first, but I'm from the South, so I got to pick who got top billing in my recreation.

I shot my 2 1860 Pietta's today. Lots of fun. Tried a cylinder of wads & no balls. Looks like a good Wasp killer there!

Since we're going unrelated. Sunday I went to mow the lawn, I have 2 Weber grills in front of my 3rd car garage door. Pulled 1 of the Webers away and out of the corner of my eye I notice this:

They say in Missouri it's best to look before you grab things... Turns out I had 2 of these Western Ratsnakes living in the other Weber grill. Good Snakes to have around!!!
