Does anyone have a rifle chambered in 5.7 or 22 tcm?

Now I'm thinking 22 hornet might be the answer. Fairy easy to find ammo, easy to find bullets and loading data... and it just seems like a neat round! I have been eyeing up the CZ rifle that is chambered in it... seems like a very nice rifle. Of course I'd have to get a Taurus Raging Hornet as a companion handgun... ;)

I got a Ruger in .22 Hornet. I found later that accuracy is hit-or-miss with Rutgers, and typically a lot more miss than hit. Got a CZ, but decided to thin the herd and never shot it. They have excellent reputation for accuracy.

When I was looking at getting mine, some of the guys had brownings and got stellar accuracy also.

I would really like to find a rifle barrel in 22 Hornet for my TC Encore--or a rifle barrel and the correct stock kit to turn my Contender into one...

I actually just bought another contender pistol in 6mm tcu to convert into a rifle. I have a pistol in 357 herrett so I will use the tcu barrel with that and I am going to get a 30-30AI rifle and something like a 22 K-hornet or 222 rifle barrel.

You can get custom barrels for contenders and encores from a few places such as Match Grade Machine and Eabco.

Eabco has original contender stocks for $120.

Boyds make one for $85, but I've never seen one

I am going to get a custom stock made by this guy. He is located about 2 hours from me so I am going to make a trip out there to see some of his work and order me a stock and forend set.

I have the FN 5.7x28 semi auto. I also shoot the Accelerator in 5.7. It is kind of a "niche" rifle and I had to have some work done on it aftermarket to bring it up to standard. It has only two practical uses - target and varmints. The magazines are stiff and require a tool to aid in loading them. The design is very futuristic which I like. Recoil is none as the rifle weighs 9 pounds without scope or bi-pod. The 5.7 is LOUD in both pistol and rifle but amazingly accurate and fun to shoot. For a "bug out" gun you can not beat a pistol that can carry 30 round in one magazine and can engage the "enemy" at an effective distance of 150 yards.

The .22 TCM brass is very available. Ammo Supply is owned by RIA and is a very good source for reloading supplies for your .22 TCM. The excellent 40 grs TCM bullet has been on back order. I talked to Mike at Ammo Supply yesterday. He said the bullet inventory should be back up this week. Their ammo is loaded in Stevensville, Mt.

Thanks Dog, for the link and info. I bought a quantity of the 40gr JHP from Grafs for the same price. However, they haven't restocked in 6mos. Now I have a better source.

My .218 Bee and .22 Hornet adore that bullet. 12.5gr Lil'Gun gets 3,000fps and 1.5" groups at 100yds. Just as cheap as gaschecked cast bullets, but lots less trouble.

I've got an AR57 AR15 upper which I like, 6" barrel which I run suppressed. The can sits proud of the handguard by about 3/4". I use this one on a registered SBR lower. With a PS90 mag on top it's a lot of fun, and more accurate than I expected. The ammo isn't cheap of course and I don't know that the round can be reloaded.

I did try an AR57 16" barreled upper as well but ended up sending it down the road. It wasn't any more accurate than the SBR setup, less compact and not as well balanced.

Of course, you could always build a rifle in 25 ACP.

If I had enough in my "mad money" account and could find the components (they seem to be getting really scarce), I think something like that would be totally cool. You could be pretty certain that nobody else in the world had one.

Trent had a pretty in depth write up on his reloading endeavors for the 5.7. I'm sure it can be tracked down with the search function. It was probably around 3 years ago.
