Just curious if anyone ever swaps brass? I sometimes get brass I don't reload and would like to just swap/trade it as opposed to............whatever.
I don't have much other than what I reload but...just curious.

Yes, use to do it all the time when I lived in the city. Now that I'm in the country it does not happen any more. I do give brass away to ones that are just starting out hand loading.

I typically pick up what I shoot plus what's in the stall that I use at our local range.

So I don't pick up a ton of other people's. But some gets in.
I shoot 9mm, 45 and 223/556 so I keep those.
I don't shoot 40 S&W but hold on to that too as one of my employees and a friend shoot it, so I may give it to them if they want to start reloading. If not I'll hang on to it as I could see a 40 coming home with me one day (but no time soon)

I also keep 308 as I can see that as a caliber I'll own one day.
Likewise, my mom has been talking about getting her carry permit so I hold onto the little bit of 380 that gets in with my brass.

I've also picked up some 300 Blackout so it'll join the 308 and 380 for possible future use.

Now the most interesting brass I've picked up is 38 special. I'm not sure how popular it is, but it's not a caliber I have any desire to shoot. So I posted here and a fellow forum member nearby took it. I figure getting it to someone who can use it was more important than trading as I have a bunch of brass in the calibers i shoot.

I'm hoping good karma will be shared as he said it was for his wife. So who know. Worse case, I got it to someone who will use it, best case I get some good luck!

So my suggestion is keep what you think you'll use, trade if you need something, and there's something nice about helping someone else so do it when you can.

I trade all the time, locally and on some of the facebook reloading pages. I trade brass for almost anything.

I've also put some up on a PIF thread we had running here for a while. It's been a little quiet recently, but it was good while it ran.
With winter over and many parts of the country in spring/summer weather, I think many people are out shooting and doing more things with life. Walkalong would complain about winter time cabin fever that sometimes gets expressed on forum posts. :D

After record setting winter rain (felt like 5 months of continuous rain storms), it just barely stopped raining in my region and we are doing a lot more outdoors activities and spending less time on the couch.
38 special ... I posted here and a fellow forum member nearby took it.

I'm hoping good karma will be shared as he said it was for his wife ... there's something nice about helping someone else so do it when you can.
My reloading mentor taught me the virtues of "pay it forward" and believe me, it has paid me back many folds.

While I seed PIF here on THR and in real life (I recently PIF our Buick to a single mom working and going to school) without the expectation of return PIF, I have been rewarded with a lot of THR generosity and good fortune in life.

So if you pick up some brass you don't need, try paying it forward. You never know, good things may surprise you.

I'm always looking for PMC 44mag and Hornady 6.8 SPC, 204 Ruger, and 300wm, as well as Nosler 7RM. Winchester .243win too. I buy and trade for brass I need, and sell or trade, or better still, give away brass which I don't use. I go through my brass bucket usually once a year, sort everything, then post it up here or there.

Could wander over to the pay it forward forum. Have sent brass to people who were looking for stuff and received some bullets and other goodies from other members. Great way to spread the wealth

bds, it's funny but I didn't mention it when posting above but, after I gave the brass to a member here, another member offered me a muzzle brake for my AR build then sent it to me. I thought that was so cool and it's very much appreciated. Plus it adds a something special to the rifle as I appreciate gifts.

Anyway, if we all do a little more "nice" who knows maybe it'll become contagious

Good stuff guys. I will fit in with the pif crowd as well. (I have been told I do it too much.)
I will sort and figure out what I have and post on the sites suggested.
Thanks for steering me!

Great!

My approach to life is, "Life is short and we are going to leave this world just as we came in - with nothing. We can't take anything with us. So enjoy the time and things with others by seeding gifts of generosity and to share good times. Cherish and embrace the younger generation with our life experience, knowledge and wisdom to benefit their life experience. Make a "bucket list" and fulfill each listed item and help others fulfill their bucket lists. Pay it forward because we are given the opportunity to do so, to accentuate goodwill to humanity, which I believe is one of our purposes for being allowed on this world"

And if you are in need of something, try posting "I need" in blarby's PIF thread - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...rd-in-reloading.698208/page-127#post-10469420

I am continuously surprised by the amount of generosity and surplus reloading items THR members have. :D

BDS, you know those PIF threads here have helped out a bunch of people, both Blarby and you deserve a lot of the credit for getting them going. This site does have some generous members. I have PIFed and been the recipient of some wonderful returns as well. I also remember and took advantage of your - Where are the reloading components thread? -- you put a lot of work into keeping that up during the big shortage.

That's why I suggested it above. Now, if only someone would take the small amount of 25 ACP 1X brass that I have laying around.
