Okay, thank you guys so much for helping me with my last thread. So now I need a conceal carry holster. I'd like it like slightly behind my hip, but not at my 6. I've heard a lot of good about alien gear, but also stealth gear. I'm kinda torn between them two and some others. Any advice ? Recommendations ?

What gun and IWB or OWB?

For IWB and a smaller gun I prefer a simple single clip Kydex holster. It's what I carry my LC9s in, and that's generally my go to carry 3/4 of the year. In this regard I have bought from Clinger Holsters, they make a great product reasonably priced but expect a month wait. My last simple Kydex I bought off of Amazon by a US company that I can't think of the name right now. But there are endless choices out there.

For IWB and a larger gun I have a Alien Gear Cloacktuck 3.0. Very comfortable and is well made. IMHO any of the double clip "hybrid" holsters such AG or CB do not conceal very well. I mainly use mine if I'm dressing lighter in the winter. But a lot of times I'll just slap on an OWB if I'm going to be wearing a Carhartt for the day. Much more comfortable and conceals about just as well.

For OWB holsters the possibilities are about endless regardless of the gun.

I'm a huge fan of Raven Concealment. Expensive, but worth the money.

Edit: Don't forget a sturdy belt with secure buckle.

A sturdy belt is a must. I think I got mine from Cabellas. Had it for years, it's already outlasted any two previous belts I've had and the area at the buckle is just now settling in.
As for the actual holsters, Fist Inc. has made a fan of me. I got their #19 close-cropped adjustable IWB for my CZ and aside from just being a great holster, the adjustable attachments kept me from ending up with a box of holsters before settling on one.

I use a belt from KT Mech. It's simply stiff nylon with the polymer cobra buckle, and it's double layered on one side. It's obviously inferior compared to an Ares belt, but adequate for a sidearm and two spare mags.

I don't care for the kydex/leather hybrids, since they tend to close up some when the gun isn't in it, and they're so wide I think they're uncomfortable.

For guns without lights, I prefer leather, IWB. The Milt Sparks Summer Special II has been my go-to for years for 3.5" to 5" 1911s, and my Glock 19.

Guns with lights are carried OWB at 3 o'clock. I used a Raven Concealment for my 1911 with an X300, I didn't care much for it. I used a heat gun and some colorful language to reshape it to my liking. I was pretty pleased with the KT Mech holster for my Glock 19 with a TLR-1.

I carry my Kahr K9 at 2 o'clock, in a modifed Comp Tac 2 o'clock.

Try either. Both companies are very good at what they do. Chances are your first holster will not be comfortable for you. And that is okay. Most people who carry have a drawer or some storage of holsters that did not work.

I agree with those who suggested starting with a good belt. My best one is a Beltman belt, but it's also my most expensive. As for the holster, for IWB, I use a Crossbreed Supertuck in horsehide and it's just ridiculously comfortable. For OWB, I use a Galco Combat Master. Despite my hating the name, it's a pretty decent holster. I've used a Theis hybrid IWB (like the CBST) in the past and liked it, too.

It would help if we knew something about your climate and usual daily attire. Choosing a holster for someone in S. Florida who wears cargo shorts and T-shirts all the time may be markedly different from someone in Milwaukee who wears a suit and tie 5 days a week.

I have a few hybrids. Two are the traditional wide hybrid with two hooks. I like them, they do a good job of spreading the weight of the gun, and they are good for thicker guns since there is no hook in front of the gun adding to the width of the rig (and with a thinner gun, they'll totally disappear). However, they do take a lot of real estate on your belt. One has only one hook placed in front of the gun like many other IWB holsters. It takes less space, but isn't as good with a thick gun. As a group, I find the leather against my skin more comfortable than an all kydex IWB but more durable than an all leather holster.

I have them from Theis Holsters (2 clip holster, for my SIG P290RS), Foxx (1 clip for my SIG P250 Compact), and Black Arch Holsters (2 clip holster for my CZ P01). All are good holsters, but I like the Theis and the Black Arch the best. They just seem a bit better made.

Another recommendation for Fist holsters. I have 3 holsters, all quality work but add the $8 option of the body protector which makes the holster.
