Convert Savage model 12 to single shot?

I've been looking at either a Savage model 12 Varmint Low Profile or BVSS.

How difficult would it be to convert either to a single shot setup? (Not permanently, it would mostly be for when I am teaching the kids.)

I've seen some things online but threads were old and I don't know if they apply to today's offerings.

Single shot magazine followers are available for several rifles. Check the link below:

Or just remove the existing follower and spring.

Looks like that one won't work with their newer center feed models.

This to see if it's compatible with the Low Profile Varmint with the drop box mag.

Welp, talked to them and that only works with an AICS setup, not factory. Back to square one!
