Benchmade otf comparison???

Those 21 different knives are really just variants of 3 or 4 different knives. You have the Infidel in full size and mini, you have the Pagan in double edge or single edge, and you have 4600/4700 which are just slight variants of each other with minor, dare I say minute, differences in blade thickness, handle thickness, length, weight, and handle texture. All the other differences are just handle color and whether the blade is black dlc coated or not. The internal mechanisms are similar across all of them, and similar to almost all other DA OTF knives.

I wouldn't carry any of them for defense. Autos, particularly OTF autos, still have too many issues as, hso outlined in detail in this recent post - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...than-side-opening-autos.821703/#post-10556264. If you made me pick from the Benchmades linked though, I'd get the 4600 because it's the closest in external design to a Microtech Ultratech. However, you could get an actual Ultratech for $40 less.

I didn't look at them all but for edc I wouldn't personally get too caught up in the differences.

I would probably pass on the d2 offerings though for this type of knife and go with s30v

OTF knives are one of the, if not THE, worst choices for defensive knives. Their lock up can be interfered with too easily in too many ways (coin blocking the opening, any drag disengaging the mechanism, weaker mechanism). Never put one in that role. They're simply unsuitable as a defensive tool.

That's the practical reason to disqualify them, but local laws, not in FL, may make them a bad choice as well.

So, no, don't select an OTF as a defensive knife.

Doesn't take much pocket lint to put an OTF out of commission. Then try and get inside to clean it.

Cute but pricey toys and conversation pieces, but not for defense.
