Anybody for the Canik TP9 SFX?

I just handled this particular pistol in my local gunshop and I mustered all my strength not to buy it. I am looking for a pistol with a very nice trigger pull to accompany my Hk VP9.

I am still debating on getting a Glock 17 again. I had it years ago with the first gen but had it sold to a buddy. The newer polymer pistols are making my heart beat faster.

So far I've handled and fondled

CZ P10C. I have big hands and I would prefer this better than a Glock 19 (which I believe it is trying to compete with) or a Glock 17. The trigger pull is crisp and the ergo is great. The only thing I don't like is the backstrap stippling is "biting" my hand. Something I disliked especially during prolonged use.

Beretta APX. A little bit on the ugly side in pictures but looks better in real life. This gun has probably better ergo than the Cz and the trigger is also very sweet. The thing I disliked is that sillly protrusion on top of the slide near the rear sight. If I wanted the slide milled for an optic, this might be a problem.

Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0. Nothing bad about this either. It's just that the overall design doesn't appeal much to me.

Glock 17. Nobody can beat the after market support on this one. I just don't like the trigger and splurging extra cash to make the trigger better is something I'm trying to avoid. It is also very blocky and somewhat unusual "feeling" when I wrap my hands around it.

NOW for the Canik TP9 SFX is something exciting. The design, the feel and handling plus the price seems to be something on top of the list. My only reservation is the support for this gun (both by its importer Century and the after market accessories manufacturers).

Any thoughts on this gun and experiences?

You have made some good assumptions for good reasons. I can only say that I agree.with your choices. With regard to the TP9, I am extremely excited about this platform as it is high quality and provides the US gunmakers with an incentive to create quality products at affordable prices.

I have had a TP9SA for about a year and have over 2k rounds through it with not a single hiccup. There is absolutely NOTHING I dislike about it.

I don't know much about the SFX except what I've read/seen online but it seems to fall in line with the rest of the TP series in terms of reliability and function.

I wouldn't trade my SA for anything, I've just been waiting for them to come out with a compact version. And they have apparently done that with the SF Elite, which I will probably buy in the near future.

Yes, but we are talking about somewhere between $10 and $20 to change the behavior of the trigger. You can change the connector in less than 5 min without tools (maybe a nail or punch)

Agree. The $10 and $20 expenditure is just to change the behavior a bit. But if you really wanted a "better" trigger you may have to spend many times than that. The pistols I enumerated have very good trigger out of the box.

There are so many variation on the TP9 its confusing. I feel like I have to research the whole thing before I consider buying a TP9 XYZ

They have high tech gun and ammo industry which is reflected in the final product. I thought their duty pistol is at least as good as CZ75b that inspired its production. l would not have any reservations about using one of their guns.

Hard to go wrong with a CZ. I still havent put my hands on a 10c but from all accounts its a G19 with a sweet trigger and Cz accuracy. That sounds attractive! Might smooth out the backstrap a bit.

I have bought the SFX but i haven't got to shoot it yet. The trigger feels amazing and it seems alot of gun for the $ plus all the goodies that come in the box. Amazing buy for that low of a price. I hope i have as good a luck as everybody else has with it.

I don't think it is matter of Turkish guns being inexpensive rather it is case of others costing too much. They are basically charging same price for piece of plastic as aluminum alloy used to cost. It's just like brand name boots made in Chine costing same or more than stuff made here. Corporate people pocket money at your expense and those who no longer have job here.

Anybody for the Canik TP9 SFX?
