I'd rather pay a little more from an online gun shop that treats customers with respect. Bud's did not let me make a purchase because the billing address associated with my credit card was a house that I have in CA, but I was having the firearm shipped to a gun dealer in my home state of PA where I have a house and am a bonfide resident. When I told the customer service rep that the "store policy" that he was hiding behind was bs since I could just call my bank and have the address associated with my home in PA or use a different card, he said that he would not conspire with me to do anything illegal which really pissed me off because 1) nothing I did or said that I could do was even borderline illegal and 2) it showed a grave lack of understanding of gun laws on the part of Bud's. I hung up, paid $5 more and ordered the same gun from centerfireguns.com without issue.

I've bought guns from AIMSurplus (my favorite), JGSales, Centerfire Guns, Impact Guns, Prepper Gun Shop, Classic Firearms, and Southern Ohio Gun and all have been pain free and they treat you like royalty if there is a question or concern. Bud's made me feel like an ATM machine.

I have bought about 5 guns through Bud's. My Gun Smith recommended them. I have never had a problem other than they are slow to deliver. On guns that have a short warranty, I purchase there life time at around $10.00. Not sure it is any good, but buys piece of mind. My latest purchase was through Sportmans guide. Before I purchase a firearm, I go through Slick Guns for the best deals.
My latest transaction was a New Kahr CW380. I oredered it Sunday Night and was delivered on WED. Man that was fast. Bad news for me, with all the gun prices dropping, they now have the Kahr at $216.00. I searched at got the lowest price anywhere 10 days ago at $298.00. By the way, that is a great pocket Pistol. 325 rounds now, no failures and MIld shooter.

anyone use the buds warranty?

Im really itching for a marlin 1895 with the rebate ill be around $419 if i get their $25 lifetime warranty but not sure its worth it.

I don't buy the 'store warranties', they don't take affect untill after you have already exhausted all other available routes of service. Most firearms have a lifetime warrantee already. But if one was purchasing a lower price point type firearm it may reasonable.

Marlin is 5 years. Though, I don't like buying extended warranties on anything so I'd pass if I were the OP.

the marlins are 5 year. buds claims lifetime from them.

I will most likely pass. i have learned over the years the extended warranties aren't worth the hassle when it does break, fail, etc they seldom cover it. was just wondering how reliable buds was.

I didn't realize that Marlins were only five. Seems rather short for an older company.
If one was of a predisposition to save receipts a twenty five dollar premium, for a firearm that quite literally will last a lifetime, seems like a pretty good deal. Of course if Buds is around that long, without being acquisitioned by another company, who may or may not honor previous agreements.

I'm not a nickel & dime shopper and prefer to order through my local gun shop. They're good people to deal with and their prices are always fair. I couldn't give a crap less if Bud's went out of business but would be in trouble if my local shop went tits-up.

I've never bought a gun for the warranty either. If you're shopping for warranties, you're placing too much importance on the wrong thing.

I would love to support my local shops but some are a little ridiculous! I found one shop had the marlin 1895 for $599 on sale from $619 but another shop about 30min away has them for $500 on sale and a few online places have them for $465-485 normal price. Kind of hard when we are talking a few hundred bucks. The one shop that has it for $500 i cant stand as their customer service and safety is very lacking but i think the other shop will price match them so if i can get it for $500 at the other place ill probably skip the online mess and get it there. i figure by the time i do shipping and tax im at the price the store has. IMO when other places are hundreds cheaper then it tells me there is a lot of markup but i could be wrong.

I normally try to buy local, but on my last rifle I saved $175 with Bud’s after transfer fees and everything else. I did give the local guys a shot first but I’m not willing to pay that much extra just to support my local shops. I don’t buy enough guns to even have a relationship with any of them.

I didn’t buy the extra insurance on the rifle but did on the shipping. I’ve seen numerous crushed, torn, stabbed with forklifts, run over and stepped on boxes. It’s almost like the shipping companies don’t care about the condition of my package.

wow! I found the same gun on grabagun.com for about $40 cheaper than buds. I emailed buds and asked if they would price match and they said no. I started reading reviews of grabagun and they aren't so good but what really got me was on yelp the owner was replying to the bad reviews and some were pretty childish. kind of makes me think twice about using them.

If I am not mistaken, when you buy the insurance for shipping, you are actually paying for their shipping insurance and not yours. It is their responsibility to get the firearm to you. You only get insurance when YOU ship a firearm or package. You have the right to inspect the firearm and decline to accept it, if the gun is damaged. I would not pay for someone's else delivery shipments.

I've bought six guns from them, rifles and handguns. The only negative was my Howa 1500, some years back. They failed to look at what was shipped to me, which turned out to be a used gun. They paid for return overnight shipping, and that day cross shipped a new rifle they inspected first, and were very apologetic; I suspect they won't make that mistake again. All other guns were new in the box, as advertised. I have a Ruger 10/22 on order now, and am waiting for the shipping notice; local guys wanted almost twice what I paid. Nothing quite so anxiety-causing as ordering a new gun. ;) As noted, they beat everyone on price.

Oh, and yeah, pay for the shipping insurance. It's worth the peace of mind. UPS is great, but they do lose items.

How are they able to sell firearms way cheaper then anyone else?
Because they don't.

I have nothing but good things to say about Bud's, but they are almost never the cheapest source. Where they excel is in prompt, automatic emails describing your order process and fast – really fast – FedEx shipping. They will also take back a gun no questions asked as long as you refuse it upon inspection... before accepting it. After that, any problems with it are most decidedly yours.

But if you are seeking the absolute rock bottom lowest prices, Bud's is not the lowest, not by a long shot. Even their LEO discounts aren't the best. Grabagun (for example) is almost always lower, and Bud's will only price match up to a certain amount. There is a price below which they simply will not go. The only guns I bought from Grabagun were those that Bud's did not have in stock, because Grabagun ships whenever they get around to it. Sometimes, that's not for a week. To their credit, that fact appears prominently on their web pages.

Don't know how they do it but they're prices are great as is their selling process. I've bought 3 guns from them.

I've bought seven guns from them. Never had a issue. Always got a better deal there than the local gun stores and the big box stores around here.

The majority of the guns I buy these days come from Buds. They always have more selection that anywhere else, ship generally fast, and keep you updated with emails regarding your order.
